Violet Hughes
Violet C. Hughes, 87, of Latham
died Monday (Aug. 25, 2003) at 9:14 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living
Center in Mount Pulaski.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski.
Her funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski, with the
Rev. Gilbert Fletcher officiating.
Burial will be in Laenna
Cemetery, Chestnut.
Mrs. Hughes worked as a mental
health technician.
She was born April 2, 1916, in
Chestnut to John and Jessie Lakin Schrishuhn. She married William G.
Hughes in Palmyra on June 1, 1940. He died Oct. 23, 1980.
Survivors are two sons, William
G. (and Carolyn) Hughes of Latham and John W. (and Cheryl) Hughes of
Latham; two daughters, Jessie L. (and Gary) Kroll of Decatur and
Linda S. Hughes of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death
by four brothers and one sister.
She was a member of Latham
Methodist Church.

Hutchins
Maude Mae Hutchins,
77, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Springfield, died Sunday (Aug. 24,
2003) at 9:03 a.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Taylorville.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski, with John Robertson officiating. Visitation will be
one hour before the service.
Burial will be in
Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Miss Hutchins worked
for Sangamo Electric and Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born March
20, 1926, in Cornland to Mikel and Maude Boggs Hutchins.
Survivors are one
sister, Lela Thompson of Aurora, Colo., and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and four sisters.
She was a member of
Pleasant Plains Christian Church.

Foundation, American Heart Association or Pleasant Plains Christian

Kevin Olson
Kevin R. Olson, 43, of Pleasant Plains,
formerly of Lincoln, died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at 9:19 a.m. in
an automobile accident in Sangamon County.
His funeral service will be at
10 a.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln,
with Craig Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Tuesday at the Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln and one
hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Burial will be in Bethel
Cemetery, rural Emden.
Mr. Olson worked for Moghan
Construction in Springfield.
He was born July 15, 1960, in
Hopedale to Harlan K. and Mary G. Whittaker Olson. He married Kim
Day on Sept. 14, 1995, in Springfield. She survives.
Other survivors are his mother,
of Lincoln; three sons, Joshua Olson of Clinton and Kavet and Garret
Olson of Pleasant Plains; two brothers, Dale (and Carol) Olson of
Emden and Larry (and Beth) Olson of Lincoln; and two sisters, Marla
(and Mark) Gates of Lincoln and Kay (and Jim) Newton of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his
father and grandparents.
He attended Hartsburg-Emden
schools and graduated from Hartem High School.
Memorials may be made for an
education fund that is being set up at the Logan County Bank in
Lincoln.

Addison Boward
Addison Shae Boward, 17 days,
of Lincoln died Friday (Aug. 22, 2003) at 5:17 p.m. at St. John's
Hospital in Springfield.
A private graveside service will
be at a later date at Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Addison was born Aug. 5 in
Lincoln to Russell Boward and Rebecca Gordon.
Survivors are her parents, of
Lincoln; one brother, Joshua Kershaw of Lincoln; one sister, Natalie
Gordon of Lincoln; paternal grandparents Theodore and Jan Boward of
Wilmington and Iona Boward of Lincoln; maternal grandparents Cheryl
Kershaw of Rochester and John Kershaw of Woodstock; and maternal
great-grandmother Inez Stevens of Batavia.

Davenport
Marvin E. Davenport,
75, of San Jose died Friday (Aug. 22, 2003) at 7:15 a.m. at his
home.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose,
with the Rev. David Wetterlund
will officiating. Visitation was on Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in
Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan.
Mr. Davenport worked
for Stetson China in Lincoln for several years and retired from
Caterpillar in East Peoria after 24 years.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War.
He was born July 24,
1928, in Manito to Carvey and Isa Keith Davenport. He married
Virginia Garrett Green on May 11, 1987, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are
one son, Roy E. Davenport of Lincoln; one stepson, William Green of
Humble, Texas; two daughters, Lois (and Melvin) Chrisman of Lincoln
and Ruth (and Robert) Vieira of Atlanta; three stepdaughters, Bonnie
J. Happach of Utica, Linda K. (and Tim) Aeschliman of Delavan and
Katherine (and Wallace) West of San Jose; 23 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; one brother, William (and Susan) Davenport of
Skandia, Mich.; and two sisters, Lois Johnson of Lincoln and Eleanor
Hashman of Midland City.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, two brothers and one grandchild.
He attended Faith
Baptist Church in Pekin.
He was a member of
UAW 974 of East Peoria.

Marjorie Scherer
Marjorie V. Scherer, 95, of Mason City,
formerly of San Francisco, Calif., died Monday (Aug. 25, 2003) at 6
a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
There will be no services.
Burial of ashes will be in Holy Cross
Cemetery, Colma, Calif.
Miss Scherer had last been employed as
a secretary at Curran Theatre in San Francisco, Calif.
She was born Oct. 9, 1907, in Quincy to
Thomas A. and Alice Ida Knight Scherer.
Several nieces and nephews survive. The
following four nieces were caregivers for her: Patricia Hovey of
Easton, Marjorie (and Ron) Pottorf of Easton, Janice (and Gordon) Hannagan of Penfield and Jane Kidd of West Chicago.
Miss Scherer was of the Catholic faith.
Memorial

Pottorf
Leland G. Pottorf,
83, of Mason City died Monday (Aug. 25, 2003) at 4:09 a.m. at St.
John's Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce
Bolin-Ghitalla officiating.
Burial will be in
Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Pottorf was
employed at Keystone Steel and Wire in Peoria for 40 years.
He was a veteran of
the Army Air Corps.
He was born April 1,
1920, in Mason City to John and Dora Dodson Pottorf. He married
Hazel "Dee" Loeffler on March 30, 1947, and she died May 7, 1986.
Survivors are two
sons, Ronnie Irvin of Mason City and Terry (and Peggy) Pottorf of
Mason City; one daughter, Cheryle Diver of Mason City; four
grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren
and three step-great-grandchildren; and a companion, Alice Smith of
Mason City.
He was also preceded
in death by one sister, Beverly Wasilewski.
He was a member of
Eagles, Jolly Club and Mason City Legion Post 496.

Lionel Marshall Jr.
Lionel Ray Marshall Jr., 33, of Lincoln
died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2003) at 3:19 p.m. at Memorial Medical
Center in Springfield.
His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday
at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with John
Robertson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the
funeral home.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski
Cemetery.
Mr. Marshall was disabled.
He was born July 1, 1970, in Lincoln to
Lionel R. and Kay E. Shay Marshall.
Surviving are his parents, of Mount
Pulaski; one sister, Dr. Angela Marshall of Canton, Ohio; two aunts,
Susan Marshall Powell of North Caroline and Donna Shay Smith of Las
Vegas, Nev.; and two uncles, John Marshall of Decatur and Richard
Marshall of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his
maternal and paternal grandparents.
He was a member of the First Christian
Church of Mount Pulaski.

Wibben
Edith August Trepel Wibben, 89, of Hartsburg died Friday (Aug. 22,
2003) at 10:15 p.m. at the Christian Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Her
funeral was Tuesday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church
of Hartsburg, with the Rev. David Russell and Todd Phelps
officiating. Visitation was on Monday evening and immediately before
the service on Tuesday.
Burial is in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Wibben was a homemaker.
She was born Jan. 14, 1914, in rural
Emden to Frederick William and Wessellina “Lena” Janetta Rademaker
Trepel. She married Claus Albert Wibben on Feb. 10, 1935, at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are four daughters, Margaret
(and Robert) Conrady of Lincoln, Nancy Ritterbush of Hartsburg,
Betty (and Joe) Litherland of Carlock and Ruth (and Larry) Reinhart
of Bloomington; three sons, Herman (and Maureen “Marty”) Wibben of
Emden, Duane (and Barbara) Wibben of Hartsburg and John (and Pamela)
Wibben of Tremont; 21 grandchildren, Cindy (and Kevin) Gleason,
Cathy Richardson, Scott (and Lori) Newby, Lisa (and David) Conrady,
Christy (and Jay) Cross, Craig (and Paula) Conrady, Doug (and Jodi)
Ritterbush, Mark (and Lena) Newby, Cherie (and Gary) Rankin, Marla
(and Ron) Wampler, Greg Wibben, Todd (and Becky) Reinhart, Steve
Wibben, Cale Wibben, Darien Ritterbush, Chad Reinhart, Lori (and
Cass) Benner, Jason (and Cindi) Wibben, Janelle (and Tim) Woolard,
Lauren Wibben and Tim Marten; 25 great-grandchildren and four
step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Florence Trepel
of Wisconsin, Virginia Wibben of Emden and Janette Wibben Coers of
New Holland.
She was also preceded in death by two
sisters and one brother. She was the last of her immediate family.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran
Church of Hartsburg.
She loved flowers, gardening, quilting
and the firehouse coffee group.

Hartsburg Rescue.
