Olson, 79 of Lincoln passed away on Friday,
December 19, 2003 at 11:40 a.m. at Hopedale Medical Center. (Natural
Causes)
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Olson will
be held on Tuesday evening December 23, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. the
Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln with Rev. J.K. Jones
and Rev. Craig Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until
time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will be at a later date in
Bethel Cemetery in rural Emden.
Memorials can be made to the Jefferson
Street Christian Church.

Mrs Olson is survived by two sons: Dale
( Carol) Olson of Emden, Larry (Beth) Olson of Lincoln, two
daughters; Marla (Mark) Gates of Lincoln, Kay (Jim) Newton of
Lincoln. One brother; Daniel Whittaker of Canton, North Carolina;
one sister: Leona Watkins of Morton, 10 grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Olson was preceded in death by one
son; Kevin R. Olson, four brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Olson was born on September 19,
1924 in Delavan to William and Mary E. Hamon Whittaker. She married
Harlon K. Olson on July 18, 1943 in Delavan . He preceded her in
death on February 26, 1985.
Mrs. Olson retired in 1978 after
working at the Lincoln Development Center for 20 years. She was a
member of Jefferson Street Christian Church, the Oasis Senior
Citizens Organization and was a former volunteer for the Perry
Center for Care in Lincoln.

Kathleen D. Van Etten,

San Jose,
78
Kathleen D. Van Etten, of Pekin (formerly of San Jose), 78, died of
natural causes at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at Pekin Manor.
There will be no services for Mrs. Van Etten. She will be creamated.
Mrs.
Van Etten was born to Frank and Dorthy (Litherland) Dennison on Feb.
4, 1925 in San Jose. She married Richard Van Etten on June 5, 1954
in San Jose.
She
is survived by one brother, Phil Dennison of San Jose and one
sister, Audrey Palmer of Delevan.
She
managed a fabric shop in
Bethlehem,
PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to San Jose United Methodist
Church.

Catherine “Kay” Miller,
91 of Grand Rapids, MI, formerly of Lincoln
Catherine “Kay” Miller, 91 of Grand Rapids, MI (formerly of Lincoln)
passed away on Dec. 20, 2003 at Spectrum Health – Kent Community
Campus.
Vistitation is from 4 – 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Rev. Julie Azbell
will preside. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday at
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Miller was born to Arthur and Lula (Mullen) McFarland on
November 23, 1912 in rural LaFontaine, IN. Her first husband, Harold
J. Paxton, preceded her in death. She married Jacob Frederick “Fred”
Miller on October 12, 1946 in Peoria. He also precedes her in death
as well as her parents, a stepson, Ronald Miller; a brother, Harold
McFarland; a sister, Delight Crumley; and a half brother, Frank
Russell.
Survivors include on son, Gene (Mary Alice) Paxton of Grand Rapids,
MI; one brother, Charles McFarland of Spokane, WA; three special
friends, Katy and Tommy Hall, Mineva and John Pelc, and Keith Tucker
all of Lincoln, and one special niece, Ann Wales of Algonquin. She
also had three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Spectrum, Grand Rapids, MI.

James T. Skaggs, 90, of Mason City died Friday
(Dec. 19, 2003) at 8:40 a.m. at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.
He was cremated, and there is no
visitation.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m.
Monday at Mason City United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bruce
Bolin-Ghitalla officiating.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Skaggs farmed in the Mason City
area, and after retiring from farming he was head custodian and a
school bus driver for District 123 for many years.
He was born June 1, 1913, in
Middletown, Ky., to John and Minnie Beard Skaggs. He married Belle
Martin Schoonover in 1937, and she died in 1968. He married Lucille
Lynn on July 14, 1968, and she died May 26, 1996. He married Mary
Kurilko on Aug. 7, 1997, and she is his surviving spouse.
Other survivors are one stepson, Robert
Lynn of Ocala, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Betty Doyle of Petersburg
and Susan Repplinger of Palatine; eight grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Schoonover of Mason City.
He was also preceded in death by four
sisters and two brothers.
He was a member of the United Methodist
Church in Mason City.
Memorial
contributions may be made to his church or the Mason City Library
Foundation.
Homer D. Tripp, 82,
Mason City
Homer D.
Tripp, 82, of Mason City died of natural causes on Sunday, Dec. 21,
2003 at 5:44 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at
Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
Cremation will be accorded with burial at Mason City Cemetery, Mason
City.
Mr. Tripp was born to Home and Hazel (Sewell) Tripp on May 25, 1921
in Greenview. He married Doris Adams on Aug. 26, 1949 in Greenview.
She survives.
Other
survivors include son, Mark Trippp of Springfield, a brother, Wayne
Tripp of Mason City; a sister, Wilma Propst of Greenview.
He was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Lee Tripp.
Mr.
Tripp worked at Corn Products in Pekin for 37 years. He served in
the Airforce during WWII. He was a member of Greenview Christian
Church.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Jack W. Hamilton,
73, Chestnut
Jack W. Hamilton, 73, of Chestnut died at 8 p.m. Dec. 19.
A
funeral service was conducted Tuesday morning at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski followed by
burial at Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Full military rites were accorded.
Mr.
Hamilton was born as a son to Henry and Pearl (Ingram) Hamilton on
Feb. 14, 1930 in Lincoln. His mother lives in Beason.
He married Patricia Lewis on June 18, 1955 in Lincoln. She survives.
Also
surviving are one son, Jeff Hamilton of Chestnut; one daughter,
Nancy (John) Stoll of Chestnut; two brothers, James Hamilton of
Beason and Bill Hamilton of Lincoln; and one grandaughter, Allison
Stoll of Chestnut.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr.
Hamilton farmed in Aetna Township and worked at Martin Auction
Center in Clinton.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a
member of the American Legion Post #447 in Mount Pulaski and the
Antique Tractor Club.
