Donald Greenslate
Donald G. Greenslate, 83, of
Lincoln died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at 7:16 p.m. at Memorial Medical
Center.
His funeral will be
at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with visitation
starting at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be in
Hartsburg Union Cemetary with full military rites.
Mr. Greenslate was
the chief of security at Lincoln Developmental Center before he
retired.
He was born May 8,
1919, in Kenney, Ill., to Owen and Imogene (Altman) Greenslate. He
married Maxine L. Smith on Dec. 24, 1943, in Waynesville, Mo.
He is survived by
three sons, Jeffrey (Cathy) Greenslate of Coquille, Ore., David
Greenslate of Lincoln, Roger (Betty) Greenslate of Sarasota, Fla.,
one sister, Mildred Garr of Coal Springs, Minn., 12 grandchildren
and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and five sisters.
He was a member of
First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lincoln.
He was a WWII Army
veteran with a Purple Heart.
Memorials may be made to the Intensive
Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.

Fay
Dunn
Fay E. Dunn, 94, of
Lincoln died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at 10:35 p.m. at the Christian
Village Nursing Home.
She was cremated, and
a graveside committal of ashes will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at
Harmony Cemetery, Beason, with the Rev. Jame Haas officiating.
There is no
visitation.
Mrs. Dunn was a
homemaker for her family.
She was born Jan. 28,
1908, in Effingham County to Jesse and Calla Dinwiddie Tichenor. She
married Harold W. Dunn in Chicago on Aug. 7, 1927. He preceded her
in death.
Surviving are one
daughter, Barbara Raycraft of Lincoln; two sons, James E. Dunn of
Redding, Calif., and Robert Dunn of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine
grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers.
She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Lincoln.

Carl Heinzel
Carl Heinzel, 89, of
Lincoln died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at 8:25 a.m. at Maple Ridge
Health Care Centre.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev.
Thomas Bryant officiating.
Burial will be in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Heinzel was a
former partner in Sieb's Hatchery. He was also a custodian and bus
driver at Chester-East Lincoln School before he retired.
He was born April 19,
1913, in Lincoln to William and Hannah L. Hoffert Heinzel. He
married Geraldine Hopp on Jan. 13, 1939, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are
one son, Donald C. (and Mary) Heinzel of Peoria; two daughters,
Sandra Crews (and Mark Swisher) of Phoenix, Ore., and Shirlee (and
Gordon) Johnson of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Heinzel of Eureka, Mo.; and
one sister, Mildred Donath of Lincoln.
He was preceded in
death by three brothers.
He was a member of
Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church.
He was an avid
fisherman, hunter and trapper.

may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or
Hospice
Care of Illinois.

LaVene Montgomery
LaVene Montgomery,
92, of Lincoln died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at 11 p.m. at the
Christian Village.
She was cremated, and
there will be no visitation.
A memorial service
will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Mrs. Montgomery was a
teacher in Illinois schools before she retired in 1959.
She was born Feb. 11,
1910, near Atlanta in Logan County to Clarence and Rose Conover
Leach. She married Avery Lee Montgomery on July 10, 1944, in Poplar
Bluff, Mo. He died June 15, 1966.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers and one sister. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Lincoln Woman's Club, Eastern
Star, Christian Village Auxiliary and a life member of the National
Education Association.
