Rosemary Young
Rosemary Young, 52,
of Atlanta died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at her home.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta.
Her funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eminence Christian Church, rural Atlanta.
Mrs. Young worked 19
years for the state of Illinois, the last 17 years as executive
secretary at Lincoln Correctional Center. She had also worked for
Country Companies in Bloomington and was co-owner of H.G.&N.
Fertilizer/TipTop Farms.
She was born Sept.
30, 1950, to Martine and Florence Tholen Seefeldt. She married Tommy
J. Young on July 10, 1971. He survives.
Other survivors are
one daughter, Tara Katherine (and Jay) Miller of Carthage; one son,
Yale Eric Young of Ancona; and two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole and
Lane Thomas Miller of Carthage.
She was preceded in
death by her parents.
She was a member of
the Illinois Hereford Auxiliary, taught Sunday school for many
years, played in the Atlanta Community Band and played the piano at
her church and at local nursing homes. She was honored by the
Lincoln Correctional Center in 1998 for her volunteer services.
She was an active
volunteer for the American Cancer Society, walked in the Susan G.
Komen Race for the
Cure, and was named honorary chairman for the Logan County Relay for
Life.
She graduated from
New Holland-Middletown High School and Midstate Business College in
1969.
She was a friend to
everyone, loved her family (grandchildren were her joy) and loved
life!

Eminence Christian Church.
Donald Greenslate
Donald G. Greenslate, 83, of
Lincoln died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at 7:16 p.m. at Memorial Medical
Center.
His funeral will be
at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with visitation
starting at 12:30 p.m.
Burial, with military
rites, will be in
Hartsburg Union Cemetery.
Mr. Greenslate was
the chief of security at Lincoln Developmental Center before he
retired.
He was born May 8,
1919, in Kenney to Owen and Imogene Altman Greenslate. He
married Maxine L. Smith on Dec. 24, 1943, in Waynesville, Mo.
He is survived by
three sons, Jeffrey (and Cathy) Greenslate of Coquille, Ore., David
Greenslate of Lincoln, Roger (and Betty) Greenslate of Sarasota, Fla.;
one sister, Mildred Garr of Coal Springs, Minn.; 12 grandchildren;
and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and five sisters.
He was a member of
First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lincoln.
He was an Army
veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Jane
Huston
Jane C. Huston, 80,
of Lincoln died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at 10:32 p.m. at Maple Ridge
Care Centre in Lincoln.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Prior to visitation, there will be a rosary service at 4:45 p.m.
Her funeral will be
at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln, with
Father Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in
Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Huston taught
for five years at Atlanta High School and at Lincoln High for 15
years. She was a substitute teacher at Hartsburg-Emden, New
Holland-Middletown, Carroll Catholic School and Northwest School.
She was a remedial reading teacher in her home after retiring.
She was born Jan. 8,
1923, in Lincoln to Jacob and Mabel Reichle Leininger. She married
Richard E. Huston on June 16, 1956, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church
in Lincoln. He survives.
Other survivors are
one sister, Mary Rose Kramp of Lincoln Lakes, and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
She was a member of
Holy Family Catholic Church, Holy Family Society, Logan-DeWitt
Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Retired Teachers Association,
Blue Army of Phantom, Priest for Life and Prolife Action.
She graduated from
Lincoln High School in 1941 as salutatorian of her class. She
graduated from Lincoln College with honors in 1943 and graduated
magna cum laude from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1945.

LaVene Montgomery
LaVene Montgomery,
92, of Lincoln died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at 11 p.m. at the
Christian Village.
She was cremated, and
there will be no visitation.
A memorial service
will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Mrs. Montgomery was a
teacher in Illinois schools before she retired in 1959.
She was born Feb. 11,
1910, near Atlanta in Logan County to Clarence and Rose Conover
Leach. She married Avery Lee Montgomery on July 10, 1944, in Poplar
Bluff, Mo. He died June 15, 1966.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers and one sister. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Lincoln Woman's Club, Eastern
Star, Christian Village Auxiliary and a life member of the National
Education Association.
