Mary Aderman
Mary Aderman, 77, of
Lincoln died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 1:15 p.m. at St. Clara's
Manor.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Tom Gerdts
officiating.
Burial will be in
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Aderman was a
painter at Stetson China Factory for six years, was employed by the
Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for five years,
worked in the snack bar at Kroger and was a bookkeeper at Logan
County Bank.
She was born April
20, 1925, in Logan County to Clem L. and Anna L. Fink Garton. She
married Donald W. Aderman in Lincoln on March 25, 1945, and he died
Jan. 27, 1981.
Surviving are one
son, Kenny (and Kathy) Aderman of Atlanta; one daughter, Janis (and
Dale) Coffman of Wooldridge, Mo.; six grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Iola (and Albert) Gehlbach of
Lincoln and Lois (and Julian) Schmidt of Mount Pulaski.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of
First Christian Church of Lincoln and the Friendship Corner class of
the church. She was also a charter member of Eagles Auxiliary 2708,
past president of Lincoln Woman's Club and past vice president of
Chester Woman's Club.

Kenneth Kafka
Kenneth J. Kafka, 53,
of Springfield, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Monday, Feb. 17,
2003, at 8:13 a.m. at his home.
Visitation was Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski.
The funeral was Friday
morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski, with
Bill Shanle and John Standard officiating.
Burial is in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mr. Kafka was a disc
jockey and radio announcer in Havana, Jacksonville and Springfield.
He also worked for the Illinois Department of Public Instruction.
He was born July 30,
1949, in Murray, Ky., to Joseph and Janie O'Bryan Kafka.
He is survived by his
parents; one sister, Camille (and Robert) Chiles; one nephew,
Michael Chiles; and one niece, Sheila Cantrall, all of Rochester.
Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He graduated from
Mount Pulaski High School and attended DeVry Institute and Southern
Illinois University at Carbondale.

E. Joyce Bishop
E. Joyce Bishop, 91,
of Lincoln died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at 10:26 p.m. at St.
Clara's Manor.
Her funeral will be
at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mrs. Bishop was a
homemaker.
She was born July 2,
1911, at Indian Point, Petersburg, to Elaphas and Dora Huslex
Hibbard. She married Revie Elbert Bishop on Dec. 23, 1939, in St.
Charles, Mo. He died June 29, 1995.
Surviving are one
stepson, Robert (and Josephine) Bishop of Lincoln; one stepdaughter,
Virginia (and Glenn) McLain of Panama City, Fla.; nine
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded
in death by five brothers and five sisters. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was of the
Baptist faith and had taught Bible school in Delavan.

Violet McConnell
Violet Fay Margaret
McConnell, 87, of Lincoln died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 6:25 p.m.
in the intensive care unit at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. She
was a resident of the Christian Village Nursing Home.
Visitation was Thursday at Holland and Barry in Lincoln.
Her funeral was Friday
morning at Holland and Barry, with Tom Gerdts, Paul Odom
and Ryan Edgecombe officiating.
Burial is in
Lucas Chapel cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. McConnell was a
homemaker. She also worked at the Lincoln News Agency and as a
bookkeeper at Kenshalo Rousey.
She was born Nov. 6,
1915, in rural Lincoln to Phillip C. and Margaret Phoebe Steinhauer.
She married Ted McConnell on March 21, 1945, in Lincoln, and he died
April 4, 1990.
Surviving are nephews
Kenneth Seefeldt of Lincoln, James Steinhauer of Paradise, Texas,
and Robert Steinhauer of Joliet, Mont., and nieces Phyllis Camp of
Lincoln, Betty Cobb of Oregon and Bonnie Sonnenmaker of Arkansas.
She was preceded in
death by one sister, Viola May Seefeldt, and three brothers, Burnell,
Buford and Henry Woodrow Steinhauer. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a member of
Lincoln Christian Church, served on the Deaconess Board at the
church for 30 years and was a member of the Yadnus and Good Cheer
classes. She was a charter member of the Jolly Seniors, in which she
held many offices. She was also a member of AARP, a charter member
of the Women's Auxiliary of the Christian Village Nursing Home and
captain of Neighborhood Watch of East Lincoln.
