Gerald Sparks, 55, of
New Holland, formerly of Middletown, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at
10 a.m. at his home.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Holland and Barry in Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holland and Barry, with Don Hoover
officiating.
Burial, with military
rites, will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Middletown.
Mr. Sparks was a
retired truck driver.
He served in the U.S.
Army from October 1967 to October 1969.
He was born July 18,
1947, in Lincoln to Thomas A. "Pete" and Dorothy M. Dugan Sparks. He
married Patricia Ramsey in Lincoln, and she survives.
Also surviving are
three children, Teresa Schriber (and husband Scott) of Lincoln, Chad
Sparks of Lincoln and Christina Sparks (and companion Ray Albertson)
of New Holland; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Tom (and
RuthAnne) Sparks of Lincoln, Bill Sparks of Hartsburg, Gary Sparks
of Dumfries, Va., and Bob Sparks of Mount Pulaski; and four sisters,
Rita (and Howie) Coffey of Petersburg, Donna (and Gator) Hutchison
of Middletown, Nancy (and Gus) Otto of Lincoln and Trish Tibbs
Minder of Lincoln.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and one granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made for
Middletown fireworks.
Phyllis Young
Phyllis D. Young, 73,
of Atlanta died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at 11:41 a.m. at Hopedale Medical Complex
in Hopedale.
Her funeral will be at
11 a.m. Thursday at the Eminence Christian Church, rural Atlanta,
with Andy Glass officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at
the church.
Burial will be in
Mountjoy Cemetery, rural Atlanta.
Quiram Funeral Home,
Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Young was a
licensed practical nurse. After 20 years of employment at Lincoln
Developmental Center, she retired in 1995.
She was born Dec. 22,
1929, at Canton to M. Dean and Elizabeth Anne Shaw Frantz. She
married Marion Young on June 21, 1947, at Atlanta. He died Aug. 28,
1997.
Surviving are three
sons, Bob (and Carol) Young of Bourbonnais, Bruce (and Kerry) Young
of Normal and Bill (and Bonnie) Young of Lincoln; one stepdaughter,
Bonnie Sue (and Hebert) Pettigrew of Bloomington; seven
grandchildren; one brother, Roger Frantz of McLean; and two sisters,
Ruth Werschey of Decatur and Betty Cox of Lincoln.
She was a member of
the Atlanta "A" Team, J.H. Hawes Grain Elevator Museum and the
Atlanta Eminence Christian Church.
