Margaret Scroggin
Margaret Scroggin, 83, of Mount Pulaski
died Monday (June 30, 2003) at 4:04 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center
in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
Preceding the visitation, the rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday
at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Mount Pulaski, with Father
Thomas Shaw officiating.
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery,
Mount Pulaski.
Mrs. Scroggin was a homemaker.
She was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Mount
Pulaski to Michael and Nora O'Conner Schick. She married Wilford K.
Scroggin Jr. in Elkhart on Aug. 1, 1945. He died June 12, 2003. [Obituary]
Surviving are one son, Karl Scroggin of
Springfield, and one daughter, Diane Scroggin (and Richard Hackett)
of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was also preceded in death by one
son, Michael Scroggin; one daughter, Nora Scroggin; and one sister,
Mary Kathryn Schick.
Mrs.
Scroggin was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Mount
Pulaski, to which memorials may be made.

Eileen Newby
The funeral service for Eileen R. Bruns
Newby, 85, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church
in Hartsburg, with the Rev. David Russell officiating. Visitation
will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Hartsburg Union
Cemetery.
Holland and Barry in Lincoln is in
charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Newby worked at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital for 28 years.
She was born March 24, 1918, in
Hartsburg, a twin daughter of Bernhard and Fannie Klockenga Bruns.
She married Lee Newby on Feb. 16, 1940, and he died Nov. 5, 1988.
The marriage was blessed with four
children: Elnora Wilson, who died Aug. 22, 1999; Doris (and Bill)
Higdon of Delavan; Nelson Newby of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Howard
Newby of Springfield. Other relatives are six grandchildren, James
Wilson, Richard Wilson, Crystal Wurth, Ronald Houghton, Susan
Whapham and Timothy Newby; seven great-grandchildren, Megan
Houghton, Ashton Houghton, Samantha Wilson, Matthew Whapham, Micheal
Whapham, Emily Wilson and Kayla Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Newby was also preceded in death
by four sisters: Berniece Lessen, Aleda Hoerbert, Lorene Luken and
Margaret Hellman.
A lifetime member of St. John's
Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, she was baptized as an infant at the
home of her parents by the Rev. Reinhold Lange and was confirmed by
the Rev. August Rettburg on March 27, 1932.
She attended grade school and high
school in Hartsburg.

Judith Armour
Judith Kay Armour, 63, of Lincoln died
Friday (June 27, 2003) at 12:28 p.m. at her home.
Visitation was at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln on Tuesday.
Her funeral was Wednesday morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev. Jame Hahs
officiating.
Burial is in Zion Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Mrs. Armour was a waitress at the Blue
Dog Inn.
She was born Oct. 11, 1939, in
Springfield to Everett and Gertrude Ross Brookshier. She married Bob
L. Armour on April 28, 1956, in Lincoln. He died Nov. 4, 1988.
Survivors are two daughters, Elizabeth
(and John) Bretz of Springfield and Marla Beal of Peoria; one son,
Robert Michael Armour of Sandusky, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her
parents and two brothers.
She was a member of the United
Methodist Church in Lincoln, Lincoln American Legion Auxiliary,
Loyal Order of the Moose and Eastern Star.

Rex Heyen
Rex
E. Heyen, 46, of Lincoln died Monday (June 30, 2003) at 4:16 p.m. at
the scene of an auto accident on Interstate 55 near Elkhart.
His
funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Life Ministries, 2500
Woodlawn Road, Lincoln. Pastor Joseph Bennett will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr.
Heyen was a security officer at Security Services Inc. in
Springfield.
He
was born June 7, 1957, in Springfield to Donald and Bernice Kissick
Heyen. He married Becky Simpson on June 17, 1978, in Lincoln.
Survivors are his wife, of Lincoln; his parents, of Mount Pulaski;
two sons, Tristan and Donald Heyen, both at home; one daughter,
Rebekah (and John) Radespiel of Farmer City; three grandchildren,
John Jr., Trevor and Aiden Radespiel of Farmer City; one sister,
Lisa (and Greg) Armour of Blue Mound; and his mother-in-law and
father-in-law, Nathan and Mary Simpson of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He
was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries and an elder of the church.

Russell Lynch
Russell C. Lynch, 79, of Holton, Kan.,
formerly of Mason City, died Monday (June 30, 2003) at Topeka, Kan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday, both at Hurley
Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City. The Rev. Bill Boyce
will officiate at the service.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Lynch retired from Caterpillar
Tractor Co. in 1982 after 32 years as a crane operator.
During World War II he served with the
Marine Corps 2nd Division. He was involved in the landings on
Guadalcanal, Saipan and Tinian and later served on the USS Mount
Vernon.
He was born June 6, 1924, in Mason City
to Samuel Cleveland Lynch and Margaret Ethel Cohee Lynch. He married
Bessie Wilcoxson on Oct 25, 1946, in Mason City. She died March 19,
2000.
Survivors are one son, Ralph Lynch of
Portland, Ore.; three daughters, Dee Jepson of Holton, Kan., Peggy
Staats of Hillview and Pamela Eddings of Ocala, Fla.; nine
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister Shirley
Hawks of Mason City.
He was also preceded in death by an
infant daughter, Linda Lou Lynch.
He was a member of the American Legion
of Mason City.
