Hanna Ahrens
Hanna H. Ahrens, 90, of
Hartsburg died Wednesday (July 2, 2003) at 7:55 p.m. at Maple Ridge
Care Centre in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with the
Rev. David Russell officiating. Visitation will be one hour before
the service.
Burial will be in Hartsburg
Union Cemetery.

Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Ahrens had been custodian
at St. John's Lutheran Church before she retired.
She was born Jan. 28, 1913, at
Hartsburg to Melchert H. and Grace Arends Ahrens.
Survivors are two brothers,
John (and Louise) Ahrens of Hartsburg and George (and Marie) Ahrens
of Lincoln.
Her brothers Recus and William
preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She also taught Sunday school
for 54 years.

Marie Stevens
Marie Anna Stevens, 93, of Lincoln died
Tuesday (July 1, 2003) at 11 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.
A graveside service was Saturday
morning at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating.
Holland and Barry in Lincoln
handled arrangements.
Mrs. Stevens was employed in the
dietary department at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born Jan. 16, 1910, in Logan
County to Henry and Maria Stuhan Diersing. She marked Ike Stevens on
Dec. 16, 1931, in Lincoln. He died Feb. 26, 1967.
Survivors are one daughter, Wanda
Stevens of Atlanta; two sons, Robert Stevens of Clinton and Donald
Stevens of Vilonia, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three
sisters and four brothers: Nettie Schmidt, Elizabeth Diersing, Viola
Heyen, Dietrich Diersing, Herman Diersing, Henry Diersing and Walter
Diersing.
She was a member of St. John Church of
Christ in Lincoln.

John Edwards
A memorial service for John
Edwards, 42, of Lincoln will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday (July 7)
at Logan-Mason Rehabilitation Center, 760 S. Postville Drive in
Lincoln. Dr. Robert Kurka of Lincoln Christian College will
officiate.
Arrangements are by
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mr. Edwards died June 19, 2003,
at 7:15 a.m. at his home.
He worked at Logan-Mason
Rehabilitation Center and previously at Lincoln Christian College.
Born Oct. 11, 1959, in
Danville, he was the son of Virgil Edwards and Pauline Sigler-Watts.
Survivors are his mother,
Pauline Sigler-Watts; one brother, Thomas Edwards; two sisters, Lori
(and Tim) Yocius and Theresa (and John) O'Toole; a half brother,
Michael White; his foster mother, Nancy Brown; and his foster
brother, David Brown.
An avid fisherman and member of
the Sportsman Club, he participated in fishing tournaments and fish
fries. He also participated in Special Olympics for many years.
He had moved to Lincoln over 15
years ago.

Carter Carroll
Carter James Carroll was stillborn at
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington on Wednesday (July 2,
2003) at 7:30 a.m.
A graveside service was on Saturday
morning in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln, with Father Thomas Taylor
officiating. No visitation was scheduled.
Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home of
Lincoln was in charge of arrangements.
Family members are his parents, David
E. and Nicole C. Caldwell Carroll of Bloomington; one brother,
Austin Carroll of Bloomington; maternal grandparents Gloria Caldwell
of Indiana and Bill Caldwell of Mount Pulaski; and paternal
grandmother Anna Carroll of Lincoln.

Crane
John W. Crane, 82, of
Lincoln died Wednesday (July 2, 2003) at 11:55 a.m. at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev. Julie
Azbell officiating.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mr. Crane retired
from farming in the Beason area.
He was born Jan. 19,
1921, at Mount Pulaski to John P. and Charlotte Suedmier Crane. He
married Vera Poynter on June 27, 1975, in Beason. She survives.
Other survivors are
one son, Jack (and Jan) Crane of Lincoln; four stepsons, Michael
(and Andrea) Hinton of Lincoln, Jim Hinton of Lincoln, Gary Hinton
of Lincoln and Bob (and Dawn) Hinton of Minnesota; one daughter,
Jill Boyd of Lincoln; two stepdaughters, Judy Hinton of Phoenix,
Ariz., and Joyce (and Steve) Walker of Wheeler, Texas; 17
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Donald and Kenneth "Jack," and one sister,
Louise. He was the last of his immediate family.
He was a member of
Beason United Methodist Church.

Rex Heyen
Rex
E. Heyen, 46, of Lincoln died Monday (June 30, 2003) at 4:16 p.m. at
the scene of an auto accident on Interstate 55 near Elkhart.
His
funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Life Ministries, 2500
Woodlawn Road, Lincoln. Pastor Joseph Bennett will officiate.
Visitation precedes the service at the church.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr.
Heyen was a security officer at Security Services Inc. in
Springfield.
He
was born June 7, 1957, in Springfield to Donald and Bernice Kissick
Heyen. He married Becky Simpson on June 17, 1978, in Lincoln.
Survivors are his wife, of Lincoln; his parents, of Mount Pulaski;
two sons, Tristan and Donald Heyen, both at home; one daughter,
Rebekah (and John) Radespiel of Farmer City; three grandchildren,
John Jr., Trevor and Aiden Radespiel of Farmer City; one sister,
Lisa (and Greg) Armour of Blue Mound; and his mother-in-law and
father-in-law, Nathan and Mary Simpson of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He
was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries and an elder of the church.
