C.N. 'Saul' Hedstrom
C.N. "Saul" Hedstrom, 79, of Mason City
died Friday (July 11, 2003) at 1 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
He was cremated.
Visitation was on Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
Burial of ashes was Wednesday morning in Mason City
Cemetery, with a service conducted by the Rev. Randy Paine. American Legion Jackson Keen Post 496 provided
military rites.
Mr. Hedstrom was a design engineer for
Caterpillar Tractor in Mossville. He retired after 27 years with the
company.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War
II.
He was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Chicago
to Per Olaf and Amelia Johnson Hedstrom. He married Amy Housworth on
June 20, 1953, at the Mason City United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Josh
Hedstrom of Mason City; and two sisters, Viola Cedarleaf of
Libertyville and Dorothy Hadley of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by one brother
and one sister.
He was a member Mason City United
Presbyterian Church and a past deacon of the church. He was a
50-year member and former exalted ruler of Lincoln Elks BPOE 914 and
a member of the American Legion Jackson Keen Post 496 in Mason City.
He was a former Mason City councilman and had served on the Mason
City school board.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree
in engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.
