Ella Wiseman

Ella Wiseman, 84, died Wednesday (July 23, 2003) at 2:35 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Her funeral was Friday morning at Holland and Barry, with the Rev. Dymann L. Jirovec officiating. Visitation was Monday evening at the funeral home.

Burial is in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Middletown.

Mrs. Wiseman was a homemaker for her family.

She was born June 18, 1919. She married Vearl Otto "Smiley" Wiseman on Nov. 18, 1947, in Lincoln. He died May 25, 1999.

Survivors are one son, Merle O. Wiseman of Pekin; two grandsons, Michael A. Wiseman of Norfolk, Va., and Mark A. Wiseman of Pekin; two great-granddaughters, Susie and Eve Wiseman, both of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Ruth Pharis of Lincoln and Florence Keith of Mason City; and two brothers, Wilbert Beccue of Casey and Paul Beccue, address unknown.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Beccue; her mother; and one brother, Edwin Beccue.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of New Holland.

Memorials may be made to St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln or Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland.

Josephine Shoup

Josephine M. Shoup, 93, of Lincoln died Wednesday (July 23, 2003), at 4:10 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mrs. Shoup was a homemaker.

She was born March 19, 1910, at Rilton, Penn., to Rudolph and Rose Polensek Sparhakel. She married Paul Shoup on Sept. 25, 1940, in Bowling Green, Mo. He died April 3, 1976.

Surviving are one daughter, Carol (and Ray) Deibert of Sterling; two grandchildren, Dawn (and Matt) Neumann of Villa Park and Rod Deibert of Sterling; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Gerald and Samual Ray Neumann, both of Villa Park; two nephews; three nieces; three great-nephews; five great-nieces; and four great-great-nieces.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one niece.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

She helped her husband farm for many years, enjoyed gardening and baking, and loved her family and friends with all her heart.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
