Rosella Landon
Rosella M. Landon,
88, of Lincoln died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday (June 5, 2003) at the
Christian Village.
Her funeral will be
at 6 p.m. Saturday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. Dr.
Carroll Richards will officiate.
Visitation will be two hours before the service.
A burial service will
be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Poca Hollow/Dry Valle Cemetery, Van Buren,
Mo.
Mrs. Landon retired
from the Grandy Lumber Co. in 1977. She had also worked for Dr.
Wayne J. Schall of Lincoln, and during World War II she worked at
the Elder Shirt Factory in McLeansboro.
She was born Feb. 5,
1915, in Atlanta, to William F. and Ruby Mosier Towles. She married
Marion C. Landon on Feb. 14, 1950, in Huron, S.D. He died Dec. 31,
1985.
Surviving are two
daughters, Sheron Henrichsmeyer of Lincoln and Donna Kendall of
Sale, Ore.; three grandsons, Roy Dean, Mark W. and John M.
Henrichsmeyer, all of Lincoln; and one sister, Wilma Harnacke of New
Holland.
She was also preceded
in death by a brother, Edward Towles, and two sisters, Edna Sommer
and Ivonne Snider.
Mrs. Landon was a
member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.
She was a Rebekah
Lodge member since 1943 and an avid card player at Friendship Manor.
She spent the early years of her life in
Wayne City and Adin.
Mayford Davis
Mayford L. Davis, 87,
Mount Pulaski died Thursday (June 5, 2003) at 12:42 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
His funeral will be
at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with
the Rev. Paul Droegemueller officiating. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is in charge
of arrangements.
Mr. Davis was a
retired farmer. He also worked for the U.S. Department of
Agriculture for 16 years.
He was born May 8,
1916, in Dunkerton, Iowa, to George and Rena Meister Davis. He
married Irene Marten in Mount Pulaski on Oct. 3, 1943.
Survivors are his
wife; one daughter, Bette (and Larry) Steffens of Lincoln; two sons,
Dale (and Solange) Davis of Illiopolis and Darrel (and Darla) Davis
of Lincoln; nine grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
One sister preceded
him in death.
He was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.
He was director of
the Health Improvement Association for nine years, a member of the
Logan County Farm Bureau board for nine years and co-superintendent
of 4-H shows at the Logan County Fair.
Memorials may be made to Mount Pulaski
EMS or Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

John Meese
John C. Meese Jr.,
76, of Lincoln died Friday (June 6, 2003) at 5:30 a.m. at the
Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind.
Inurnment of ashes
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, at a later date.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of Lincoln is in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Meese was a
retiree from Laborer's Union Local 703.
He was a U.S. Air
Force veteran of World War II.
He was born Nov. 19,
1926, in Tamaroa to John C. and Mary D. Davis Meese Sr. He married
Delphine L. Marshalek on May 30, 1964, in Benton. She died Dec. 28,
1998.
Survivors are two
daughters, Phyllis (and Ted) Lamers of Olathe, Kan., and Patricia
(and Jerry) Lover of Adrian, Mich.; three grandchildren and two
stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy
Cummins of Paducah, Ky.
He was also preceded
in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be made to Danville
Veterans Hospital or the Indianapolis, Ind., Veterans Hospital.

Ruth Conger
Ruth E. Conger, 89, formerly of Mason
City, died Thursday (June 5, 2003) at 1:05 p.m. at Villa Health Care
East in Sherman.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and
burial of ashes will be in Mason City Cemetery. The Rev. Randall
Paine will officiate at the graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday.
There is no visitation.
Mrs. Conger was a homemaker.
She was born April 23, 1914, in
Jacksonville. She married Maxwell Conger, and he preceded her in
death.
Survivors are one son, Joseph (and
Rose) Smith of Virginia; two daughters, Mary (and William)
DiPasquale of Mason City and a stepdaughter, Rochelle (and Bill)
Hoelcher of Chatsworth; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;
and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Memorial
contributions may be made to Alzheimer's disease research.
