Mary Beare

Mary Beare, 90, of Atlanta died Friday, March 7, 2003, at 10:15 a.m. at her home.

Her funeral was Monday morning at St. Mary's Church in Atlanta, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating. Visitation preceded the service.

Burial was in Oak View Cemetery, rural Armington.

Quiram Funeral Home of Atlanta was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Beare was a homemaker. She also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington for several years and at the Armington Drug Store.

She was born July 24, 1912, in Bloomington to Charles and Margaret Ryan Fitchorn. She married Richard E. Beare on May 24, 1935, in Lincoln. He died Oct. 23, 2001.

Surviving are one brother, Joseph Fitchorn of Bloomington, and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Beare was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Atlanta Woman's Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or a charity of the donor's choice.

Gladys Hertzfeldt

Gladys I. Hertzfeldt, 88, of Lincoln died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 3:20 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation was Monday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral was Tuesday morning at First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Jame Haas officiating.

Burial was in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Hertzfeldt taught in Elkhart schools until she retired in 1985.

She was born April 27, 1914, in Waynesville to Louis and Tressie Cunningham Klemm. She married Arthur Hutchcraft in 1936 in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded her in death. She married Raymond Hertzfeldt in August of 1956 in Lincoln, and he also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Hutchcraft Jacobs of Goshen, Ind.; two stepsons, John Hertzfeldt of Crown Point, Ind., and William Ray Hutchcraft of Highland, Ind.; two grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter Klemm of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Wayne Klemm, and one sister, Eva Newhouse.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, Retired Teachers Association and the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority. She was a former member of the board of Lincoln College.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.
