Gladys I. Hertzfeldt,
88, of Lincoln died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 3:20 a.m. at St.
Clara's Manor in Lincoln.
Visitation was Monday
at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral was
Tuesday morning at First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with
the Rev. Jame Haas officiating.
Burial was in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Hertzfeldt
taught in Elkhart schools until she retired in 1985.
She was born April
27, 1914, in Waynesville to Louis and Tressie Cunningham Klemm. She
married Arthur Hutchcraft in 1936 in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded
her in death. She married Raymond Hertzfeldt in August of 1956 in
Lincoln, and he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one
daughter, Sandra Hutchcraft Jacobs of Goshen, Ind.; two stepsons,
John Hertzfeldt of Crown Point, Ind., and William Ray Hutchcraft of
Highland, Ind.; two grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter Klemm of Cincinnati,
Ohio.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Wayne Klemm, and one sister,
Eva Newhouse.
She was a member of
First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, Retired Teachers
Association and the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority. She was a
former member of the board of Lincoln College.
