Elsie Wilham
Elsie Wilham, 85, of
Mount Pulaski died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 12:13 p.m. at her
home.
There will be no
visitation. Mrs. Wilham was cremated.
A graveside service
will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Bill Shanle
will officiate.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of Mount Pulaski is in charge
of arrangements.
Mrs. Wilham was a
retired nurse's aide. She had worked at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital as an LPN.
She was born June 26,
1917, at Mount Pulaski to Walter and Martha Jane Fuller Rowe. She
married Jess Lee Wilham in Bowling Green, Mo., on July 10, 1942. He
died April 8, 1968.
Surviving are one
stepson, Avest "Bud" (and Julia) Wilham of Mount Pulaski; six
stepgrandchildren; one sister, Iona Fulscher of Lincoln; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded
in death by three brothers, one sister and one stepson.

Steven Howerton
Steven Robert Howerton, 50, a Lincoln
native who lived at Prairie View Care Center in Lewistown, died
Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the care center.
His funeral was Tuesday afternoon at
Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Roger Boyd
officiating. Visitation preceded the service.
Burial is in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
He was born April 2, 1952, in Lincoln
to Paul Robert and Edna L. Smallwood Howerton.
Survivors include his mother, of
Lincoln; one brother, Scott Lynn (and wife Debbie) Howerton of
Cadet, Mo.; one sister, Cynthia J. (and husband Geoffrey) Griswold
of Lockport; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father
and one brother, Bruce Howerton.
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Memorials

expenses.
Mary
Beare
Mary Beare, 90, of
Atlanta died Friday, March 7, 2003, at 10:15 a.m. at her home.
Her funeral was
Monday morning at St. Mary's Church in Atlanta, with the Rev. Thomas
Taylor officiating. Visitation preceded the service.
Burial was in Oak
View Cemetery, rural Armington.
Quiram Funeral Home
of Atlanta was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Beare was a
homemaker. She also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington
for several years and at the Armington Drug Store.
She was born July 24,
1912, in Bloomington to Charles and Margaret Ryan Fitchorn. She
married Richard E. Beare on May 24, 1935, in Lincoln. He died Oct.
23, 2001.
Surviving are one
brother, Joseph Fitchorn of Bloomington, and several nieces and
nephews.
She was also preceded
in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Beare was a
member of St. Mary's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She
was also a member of the Atlanta Woman's Club.

Albert Langenbahn
Albert E. Langenbahn,
90, of Mason City died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at 5:45 p.m. at
Mason City Area Nursing Home.
His funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Columba Catholic Church in Mason City, with
Father Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Visitation will be one
hour before the service.
Burial will be in St.
Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Langenbahn
retired from Caterpillar in East Peoria after 30 years. He also was
an inventor and received several patents over the years.
He was born Jan. 26,
1913, in New Holland to Peter and Mary Bender Langenbahn. He married
Luella Lohrenz on Feb. 10, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are
two sons, Dale (and Carol) Langenbahn of Springfield and Harold (and
Linda) Langenbahn of Springfield; one daughter, Ruby (and Bruce)
Wagner of San Jose; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by three brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of
St. Columba Catholic Church in Mason City, where he was a trustee
for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus
in Lincoln.
Memorial contributions may be made to St.
Columba Catholic Church in Mason City.
Jessie Boward
Jessie A. Boward, 85,
of Lincoln, formerly of Middletown, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at
4:34 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation was
Wednesday evening at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral was
Thursday morning at Middletown United Methodist Church, with the
Rev. Henry Cox officiating.
Burial is in Irish
Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Mrs. Boward was
employed at Stetson Pottery in Lincoln until it closed. She then
worked in Springfield for the secretary of state until 1975, when
she retired.
She was born March
23, 1917, in Logan County to Jesse and Bessie Logan Sparks. She
married Louie V. Boward on Dec. 23, 1936, in Pekin. He died July 4,
1988.
Surviving are three
sons, Louie (and Myrna) Boward Jr. of Bloomington, Carroll (and
Nancy) Boward of Lake City, Minn., and Danny (and Karen) Boward of
Lincoln; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Elizabeth Dobey of Middletown and Leona Debonis of Bloomington; and
a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rayburn of Lincoln.
She was also preceded
in death by six brothers, William, Ananias "Turk," Andrew "Dutch,"
Paul, Allen and Thomas "Pete," and two sisters, Pauline Ellegood and
Alberta Donley.
She was a member of
the United Methodist Church in Middletown.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Gladys Hertzfeldt
Gladys I. Hertzfeldt,
88, of Lincoln died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 3:20 a.m. at St.
Clara's Manor in Lincoln.
Visitation was Monday
at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral was
Tuesday morning at First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with
the Rev. Jame Haas officiating.
Burial was in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Hertzfeldt
taught in Elkhart schools until she retired in 1985.
She was born April
27, 1914, in Waynesville to Louis and Tressie Cunningham Klemm. She
married Arthur Hutchcraft in 1936 in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded
her in death. She married Raymond Hertzfeldt in August of 1956 in
Lincoln, and he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one
daughter, Sandra Hutchcraft Jacobs of Goshen, Ind.; two stepsons,
John Hertzfeldt of Crown Point, Ind., and William Ray Hutchcraft of
Highland, Ind.; two grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter Klemm of Cincinnati,
Ohio.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Wayne Klemm, and one sister,
Eva Newhouse.
She was a member of
First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, Retired Teachers
Association and the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority. She was a
former member of the board of Lincoln College.
