Dene Harris
Dene Harris, 76, of Pekin died
Saturday, March 22, 2003, at 5:25 a.m. at the Pekin Manor in Pekin,
IL.
Visitation will be on
Tuesday, March 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with Nash Shawgo
officiating at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Services
will commence after the visitation at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery,
Mason City, IL.
Mr. Harris was a WWII Navy veteran,
serving in Boston, Mass. and Guam on the USS Gyatt, #712 out of
Norfolk VA. He did two tours of Europe.
He retired from Corn Products in Pekin
after 31 years of employment.
He was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Butler,
OK to Nelson Harris and Mabel Easley. He married Joanne Kathleen
Butler in Maquon, Mo. on March 27, 1954.
Survivors are his wife, three brothers,
Gene Harris (twin brother), Mason City, Jack Easley, Mason City, and
Frank Root, Mason City, and four sisters, Audrey Johnson, Mason
City, Daisey Marcum, Mason City, Alice Wagner, Mason City, Nadine
Anderson, Mason City.
He was preceded in death by one infant
daughter (stillborn).
Military rites will be provided by the
Mason City American Legion Post 496.

Opal McCain
Opal M. McCain, 81, of Mount Pulaski
died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 12:15 p.m. at the Christian
Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Visitation was on
Friday, and her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. Bill Shanle
will officiate at the service.
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery,
Mount Pulaski.
Mrs. McCain was a homemaker.
She was born Jan. 14, 1922, in Lake
Fork to Harry and Marie Mason. She married Cecil McCain in Bowling
Green, Mo., on April 19, 1941.
Survivors are her husband, of Mount
Pulaski; one son, Edgar H. McCain of Springfield; one daughter,
Jenny (and Jerry) Sams of Decatur; two grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Joe (and Jean) Mason Sr. of
Lake Fork; and one sister, Lois (and Bill) Duhs of Mount Pulaski.
She was a member of Calvary Temple
Assembly of God in Springfield.

Margaret 'Peg' Worth
Margaret "Peg" Worth
died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 3:30 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center
in Springfield.
A memorial service
will be at 1 p.m. March 29 at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln, with the Rev. Henry Cox officiating. Visitation will be an
hour before the service.
Burial of cremains
will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.
Mrs. Worth was
employed by the Illinois secretary of state for 34 years before she
retired in 1973. She lived in Springfield for many years before her
marriage, when she moved to New Holland.
She was born May 27,
1913, in Edinburg to Richard and Marie Driskell Lowe. She married
Glen Worth on Oct. 6, 1955, in Springfield.
Surviving are one
stepson, Thomas (and Jan) Worth of Lake in the Hills; a
stepgranddaughter, Lori (and Butch) Brown of Clarksville, Tenn.; two
step-great-grandsons; one sister, Nellie Rescho of Springfield; two
nieces, Linda (and Harold) Whitworth of Nashville and Patti Fricke
of Springfield; and several nephews.
She was preceded in
death by a stepson, Brem Worth, and a sister, Darliene Youngberg.
She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church of Middletown and the women's
organization of the church. She was also a member of the New Holland
Women's Club, The Oasis senior citizens of Lincoln, the Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the
hospital for many years,
She was a graduate of
Springfield High School and Illinois Business College.

Edward Leckrone
Edward Lewis Leckrone,
70, of Lincoln died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 11:15 a.m. at
Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation was Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln. An Eagle service followed the visitation.
His funeral was Saturday
morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Tom Gerdts
officiating.
Burial is in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Leckrone was a
retired fire chief. He served the Lincoln Fire Department for 32
years.
He was born Dec. 1,
1932, in Lincoln to Charles Edward and Mary M. McGregor Leckrone. He
married Joyce Spence.
Survivors are his
wife, of Lincoln; three sons, Michael (and Jo) Leckrone of
Springfield, Robert (and Sherri) Leckrone of Desert Palm, Calif.,
and Vayne (and Jackie) Leckrone of Lincoln; three daughters, Brenda
(and Alan) Ruot of Evergreen, Colo., Debbie (and Danny) McCain of
Emden and Lori Leckrone of Decatur; two stepsons, Jim Rosenthal of
Arlington, Texas, and Mike Rosenthal of Houston, Texas; one
stepdaughter, Jeanne Rosenthal of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren, with
grandson Jonah Rosenthal being raised by his grandparents; 11
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (and Edna) Leckrone of
South Roxana.
He was a member of
Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Eagles Lodge 2708 and Sportman's
Club of Lincoln.

Jimmy Shull
Jimmy Lee Shull, 39, of St. Louis, Mo.,
died Friday, March 14, 2003, at 5:03 p.m. at Barnes Jewish Hospital
in St. Louis.
There is no visitation.
A memorial service will be Sunday,
March 23, at 2 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating.
Mr. Shull was a Lincoln native and
served in the National Guard.
He was born Dec. 3, 1963, to James and
Sharon Haberland Shull.
Surviving are his father, in Minnesota;
his mother and his stepfather, Butch Gordon, of Lincoln; one
brother, Ricky Shull of Lincoln; one sister, Lori Shull Cook of
Atlanta; and a great-grandmother, Tillie Davison of Middletown.
He was preceded in death by
grandparents Harold and Ruby Haberland and Clarence and Ruth Shull.
