Paula
Dawson
Paula S. Dawson, 45, of Waynesville,
died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 6:45 a.m. at her home.
Visitation was Friday evening at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta.
Her funeral was
Saturday morning at Waynesville Christian Church, with Dan Sherstad officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery,
Waynesville.
Mrs. Dawson was employed at
Cutler-Hammer Eaton Corporation in Lincoln for 27 years.
She was born Aug. 28, 1957, at Clinton
to Raymond and Ruth Meadows Taylor. She married Gregory Dawson on
Aug. 29, 1975. He died Oct. 10, 1981.
She was also preceded in death by her
father.
Surviving are her mother, of
Waynesville; one daughter, Teresa (and Eric) Hoff of Waynesville;
one grandson, Conner; one sister, Patty Deason of Waynesville; and
her fiance, Bill Loy of Atlanta.
She was a member of the Waynesville
American Legion Auxiliary.
Memorial contributions may be made to
the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
Robert
Frye
Robert L. Frye, 40, of Mason City died Wednesday,
April 30, 2003, at 5:58 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in
Lincoln.
His funeral was Saturday morning at Hurley
Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. James Sprinkel officiating.
Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
Burial was in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Frye worked for Lanert's in Springfield as a
independent contractor, and he worked as a mental health technician
(II) at Lincoln Developmental Center for 9 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Nov. 6, 1962, in Bowling Green, Ky.
He married Evelyn Carroll on March 23, 1996, in Mason City. She
survives.
Other survivors are his father, Bobby L. Frye of
Franklin, Ky.; his mother, Betty Griffin of Mason City; one son,
Ryan Joseph Frye of Lincoln; one brother, Jeremy Singley of Mason
City; and three sisters, Sandy (and Mike) Robertson of Mason City,
Sonya Whitfield of Spring Hills, Fla., and Stacey Lane of Mason
City.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Danny
Lee Frye, who died in infancy, and Steven Frye, who died Dec. 18,
2002.
He was a member of the Mason City Assembly of
God.
Memorial
contributions may be made to a trust fund for his son, Ryan Frye.

Lela Downing
Lela Downing, 102, of Mount Pulaski died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at
11:15 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. John Robertson will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mrs. Downing was a homemaker.
She was born Oct. 27, 1900, in Cornland to James T. and Sarah Jane
McCue Irving. She married Floyd E. Downing on March 1, 1920, and he
died in September of 1950.
Surviving are one son, Richard Downing of Springfield; one grandson,
Tom (and Robin) Downing of Dawson; one granddaughter, Susan Downing
of Springfield; and one great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
She was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church and the American
Legion Auxiliary.

James Maaks
James R. Maaks, 47, Lincoln died
Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 6:28 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in
Springfield.
His funeral was
Saturday morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Lincoln. Visitation
was on Friday.
Burial was in Richmond Grove
Cemetery, New Holland.
Mr. Maaks was a farm manager for
Lincoln Farm Corporation.
He was born June 30, 1955, in Lincoln
to Marion E. and Mildred M. Sheley Maaks. He married Karen S. Graber
on Aug. 30, 1991, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are his parents, of
Lincoln; four daughters, Kelsi Marie Maaks of Lincoln, Christi Poe
of Lincoln, Kimberly Tibbs of Atlanta and Brandi Lea Maaks of
Lincoln; one son, Brian James Maaks of Emden; six grandchildren;
four brothers, Duane (and Fay) Maaks of Charleston, Richard (and
Donna) Maaks of Normal, Ronald (and Cathy) Maaks of Normal and Mike
(and Tracy) Maaks of New Holland; and one sister, Mary (and Ron)
Coulter of Springfield, Mo.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church
of New Holland.
