Alvin Kammeyer

Alvin William Charles Kammeyer, 86, of San Jose, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at 8:55 p.m. at Hopedale Medical Center.

Visitation was Tuesday evening at Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose.

His funeral was Wednesday morning at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Simminger officiating.

Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery, rural San Jose.

Mr. Kammeyer was a lifelong farmer in the Bellflower and San Jose areas.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in India.

He was born July 18, 1916, in Sundman, Ind., to William and Marie Scwear Kammeyer. He married Evelyn Grizzle on Dec. 28, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osman. She survives.

Other survivors are three sons, Darrel (and Bonnie) Kammeyer of Manito, Richard (and Annice) Kammeyer of San Jose and Bruce (and Vicki) Kammeyer of Clinton; one daughter, Kathryn (and Gary) Hintz of Green Valley; eight grandchildren, Scott (and Jamie) Kammeyer of Manito, Steven Kammeyer of Manito, Jena Hintz of Montgomery, Texas, Eric Hintz of Normal, Elizabeth Kammeyer of Pekin, Adam Kammeyer of San Jose, Kathleen Kammeyer of San Jose and Aaron Kammeyer of Clinton; one great-granddaughter Abigail Kammeyer of Manito; one brother, Virgil (and Vivian) Kammeyer of Mansfield; three sisters, Ann Harris of Knoxville, Tenn., Zelma Kammeyer of Knoxville, Tenn., and Hilda King of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Kammeyer, and one sister, LaVerne Doss.

He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, rural San Jose, and the Mason County Farm Bureau.

He was a longtime woodworker.

He graduated from Bellflower High School.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hopedale Medical Complex.

 

 

Dale 'Pete' Row

Dale "Pete" Row, 83, of Lincoln died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at 6:26 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

His funeral was Wednesday morning at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation preceded the service.

Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Row retired in 1980 from Star Service and Petroleum of St. Louis. He was a district supervisor for 39 years.

He served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry in the Philippines and Japan during World War II.

He was born May 2, 1920, in Lincoln to Ben and Ada Shull Row. He married Alice Sanders on Oct. 27, 1942, in University City, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors are one son, Jon (and Sheri) Row of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two stepgrandchildren, Patrick and Michael O'Neill; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Dan Row of Lincoln; and a great-niece, Deborah Nisbett of Houlton, Maine.

He was preceded in death by five brothers.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Lincoln Sportsman's Club, American Legion, Oasis senior center and New Voice Laryngectomy Club.

Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or to the donor's choice.
