Stephanie Heinzel

Stephanie Heinzel, 87, of Lincoln died Monday (May 19, 2003) at 9:45 p.m. at her home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. The rosary will be recited at 5:45 p.m., prior to the visitation.

Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln, with Father Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Heinzel was employed at Stetson China Company and Willamette Industries.

She was born May 27, 1915, in Blockton, Ala., to Joseph and Josephine Gracer Krznar. She married Fred Heinzel on Sept. 22, 1936, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1983.

Survivors include one son, Steven J. (and Nancy) Heinzel of Springfield; three grandchildren, Dr. Randolph P. Heinzel of Wynnewood, Pa., David S. Heinzel of Springfield and Sally E. Heinzel of Bloomington; and one sister, Marilyn (and William) Schneider of Lincoln.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

She was a member of Holy Family Church and the Holy Family Society.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church or St. Clara's Manor Nursing Home.

Jo-Ann Kretzinger

Jo-Ann Kretzinger, 71, of Chestnut died Friday (May 16, 2003) at 5:20 p.m. at her home.

Her funeral was Wednesday morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. The Rev. Steve Ingram officiated. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial is in Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut.

Mrs. Kretzinger was an independent bookkeeper since 1950.

She was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Lincoln to Harold N. and Annaly S. Waschle Gambrel. She married Dwaine Wheeler Kretzinger in Lincoln on Sept. 21, 1951.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Leigh Ann Rohrschneider of Bloomington, Lynn Marie (and Michael) Hanamura of Folsom, Calif., and Lori Mae Kretzinger of Springfield; two grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Ryan Mathew (and Teresa) McLane of Fort Riley, Kan., and Amy Lynne Rohrschneider of Normal; three stepgrandchildren, Darryl (and Colleen) Hanamura of Roseville, Calif., Bruce Hanamura of Alhambra, Calif., and Danielle (and Joe) Hanamura Stempeck of Reno, Nev.; eight great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Taylor, River, Wheeler, Shaelyn, Ezri, Taylor H. and James; two cousins, Donna (and Dick) Pokorski of Lincoln and Jim Smith of Taylorville; her godmother, Mary Sinko of Minnesota; and her best friend, Lela Bradley of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Hugh R. Rohrschneider.

She was of the Christian faith.

She had worked for the Lincoln Courier, S.S. Kreske, St. Clara's Hospital and Frank's Food Fair and became owner of the family business, the Ace Novelty Toy Store. She was also a Girl Scout leader.

From 1963 to 1971 she was co-owner of Waynesville Super Way. She organized the Waynesville Recreational Center, Weight Watchers Club and was a 4-H leader. She worked for General Telephone in Bloomington. She was a member of and served as judge for the Illinois State Stock Horse Association, Pinto Horse International Association and the Illinois Paint Horse Association.

From 1971 to 2003 she lived and worked in Chestnut. She was the Aetna Township supervisor for 20 years and worked for the Bank of Chestnut, Chestnut Elevator and Agro Marketing in Latham. She was an EMT-midwife for the Chestnut Volunteer Fire Department, a Mary Kay beauty consultant and helped her husband at the D.J. Concession business. She served as treasurer for the Illinois Country Music Association, participated as a vendor at the State Farm Play Days and was a member of the Railsplitting Asssociation.

She enjoyed gardening, growing cactus and most of all, her family.

Beverly Kaesebier

Beverly Ann Kaesebier, 52, of Mount Pulaski died Tuesday (May 20, 2003) at 6:50 a.m. at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. Jon Rose will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until the service time.

Inurnment will be at a later date.

Mrs. Kaesebier was a registered nurse.

She was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Lincoln to Walter and Norma Sutton Landers. She married William Kaesebier in Mount Pulaski on May 28, 1977.

Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Michelle Kaesebier of Mount Pulaski; two sisters, Peg (and Larry) Drummond of Lincoln and Jean Landers of Lincoln; one brother, Walt (and Julie) Landers of Lawndale; her father-in-law, Kenneth Kaesebier of Mount Pulaski; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Betty (and Dan) Phillips of Mount Pulaski, Janet Skelton of Lincoln, David (and Ruth Ann) Kaesebier of Broadwell, Rick (and Kathy) Kaesebier of Elkhart, Susan (and Joe) Ogden of Springfield and Karen (and Bob) Hartman of Mount Pulaski.

She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Dorismae Lowe

Dorismae Lowe, 85, of Lincoln died Sunday (May 18, 2003) at 2:22 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Jame Hahs officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Lowe was a state employee at Lincoln Developmental Center before she retired.

She was born Nov. 21, 1917, at Broadwell to Frederick and Anna Plaster Stolz. She married William Edwin Lowe on Feb. 20, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo. He died in 1960.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas J. Lowe of Lincoln and Virgil (and Kathleen) Lowe of Lincoln; two daughters, Anna (and Jack) Powel of Decatur and Mary (and Bob) Stark of New Britain, Conn.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, one son and one granddaughter.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln and the Rebekah Lodge of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Kay Melton

Kay Melton, 63, of Emden died Saturday (May 17, 2003) at 7:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Her funeral was Wednesday morning at Holland and Barry in Lincoln. Visitation and recitation of the rosary were on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Burial is in Meadow Lawn Cemetery, Manito. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the committal service at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Melton was a homemaker for her family.

She was born Sept. 30, 1939, in Pekin to Richard Allen and Sarah Louise Parkin Hammer. She married Clarence Duaine Melton on Oct. 14, 1961, in Emden.

Survivors are his husband; three sons, Marc Melton of Humboldt, Kan., Michael (and wife Charie) of Rockwood, Brian (and wife Anna) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two stepsons, Wesley (and wife Nancy) Melton of Leroy and Larry, address unknown; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann (and husband Gary) Peterson of Mears, Mich.; and three brothers, Harry (and wife Pat) Hammer of Washington, Robert (and wife Jeanne) Hammer of Medford, Ore., and Dennis (and wife Sherry) of Creve Coeur.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Mrs. Melton was of the Catholic faith.

She graduated from Forman High School in Manito.

She served as a trustee on the Emden Village Board from 2001 until her illness forced her to retire.

She was an avid reader and loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafts and bowling.
