Harriet Oltmanns
Harriet C. Oltmanns, 81, of Middletown, died Friday (May 23, 2003)
at 11:10 a.m. at her home.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
A memorial
service will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Camp Butler National Cemetery,
where military rites will be accorded
by Elkhart American Legion.
Mrs. Oltmanns was a registered nurse in the 8th Air Force with
General Patton's 57th Field Division during World War II .
She was also head nurse at Lincoln State School at Drake Cottage, a
registered nurse at St. Clara's Manor and did private duty nursing in Logan
County.
She was born May 24, 1921, in Montevallo, Mo., to Leroy and Maggie
Smith Parks. She married Roger W. Oltmanns in Warrington,
England, on Sept. 28, 1945.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Roger Wiliam (Martha) Oltmanns
of South Bend, Ind., and Jerry (Dawn) Oltmanns of Sherman; one
daughter, Karol (Robert) DeLaisne-Puglisi, New York, N.Y.; five
grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Ruby) Parks of Richmond, Kan.;
four sisters, Bonnie Steward of Waverly, Kan., Lottie Krause of
Cleveland, Ohio, Vera Wills of Garnett, Kan., and Fay (Ike) Little of
Oklahoma City, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
She was a member of the Elkhart American Legion Auxiliary 616,
Women's Club, Oasis and Logan County Historical Society.
She was a volunteer blood bank nurse and helped her husband on the
farm.
She was an avid gardener and quilter
and enjoyed ceramics.

Geraldine Poggi
Geraldine Elizabeth Poggi, 87,
of Peoria, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (May 24, 2003) at
12:45 p.m. at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Her funeral was Tuesday morning
at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. The Rev. Dustin Fulton
officiated. Visitation preceded the service.
Burial is in Mason City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Poggi worked at
Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 10 years and owned Poggi's Tavern in
Mason City for 13 years. She worked for the state library in
Springfield for 14 years and retired from there in 1981.
She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in
Mason City to John Henry and Ada N. Godbey Seward. She married
Silvio V. Poggi in Petersburg in 1933. He died Jan. 10, 1959.
Surviving are one son, Donald
E. (and Sheryl) Poggi of Springfield; one daughter, B. Joe Ann (and
Walt) Hanlon of Peoria; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
and one sister, Mildred Schussele of Dunlap.
She was preceded in death by
three brothers.
