Harriet Oltmanns

Harriet C. Oltmanns, 81, of Middletown, died Friday (May 23, 2003) at 11:10 a.m. at her home.

A memorial service was Wednesday morning at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Visitation was on Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial, with military rites accorded by Elkhart American Legion, was in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mrs. Oltmanns was a registered nurse in the 8th Air Force with General Patton's 57th Field Division during World War II .

She was also head nurse at Lincoln State School at Drake Cottage, a registered nurse at St. Clara's Manor and did private duty nursing in Logan County.

She was born May 24, 1921, in Montevallo, Mo., to Leroy and Maggie Smith Parks.  She married Roger W. Oltmanns in Warrington, England, on Sept. 28, 1945.

Survivors are her husband; two sons, Roger Wiliam (Martha) Oltmanns of South Bend, Ind., and Jerry (Dawn) Oltmanns of Sherman; one daughter, Karol (Robert) DeLaisne-Puglisi, New York, N.Y.; five grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Ruby) Parks of Richmond, Kan.; four sisters, Bonnie Steward of Waverly, Kan., Lottie Krause of Cleveland, Ohio, Vera Wills of Garnett, Kan., and Fay (Ike) Little of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

 She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

She was a member of the Elkhart American Legion Auxiliary 616, Women's Club, Oasis and Logan County Historical Society.

She was a volunteer blood bank nurse and helped her husband on the farm.

She was an avid gardener and quilter and enjoyed ceramics.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

James Ginger

James Edward Ginger, 37, of Mount Pulaski died Wednesday (May 28, 2003) at 1:31 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Darrell Garrett and Sister Geanene-Carol Inherst will officiate.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is handling arrangements.

Mr. Ginger was a correctional officer at Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln for 15 years.
