Bertsche
Sharon Rae Bertsche,
67, of Springfield died Thursday (Sept. 4, 2003) at 10 p.m. at St.
John's Hospice in Springfield.
A graveside service
will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Pulaski Cemetery, with the Rev.
Thomas B. Christell Jr. and the Rev. Juli Lejman-Guy officiating.
A memorial service
will be planned for a later date at Grace Lutheran Church in
Springfield, with the Rev. Thomas B. Christell Jr. officiating.
There is no
visitation.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of Mount Pulaski is handling
arrangements.
Mrs. Bertsche was a
homemaker.
She was born April
29, 1936, in Decatur to Ray R. and Winifred D. Taylor Parks. She
married Bernard L. Bertsche in Mount Pulaski on Nov. 6, 1955. He
died Oct. 7, 2000.
Survivors are her
mother-in-law, Louise Bertsche of Mount Pulaski, and a
sister-in-law, Bernadine (and Donald) Shutt of Kansas City, Kan.
She was also preceded
in death by two sons, one daughter and one sister.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church
in Springfield, to which memorials may be made.

Charles Lovin
Charles Richard Lovin,
51, of Atlanta died Thursday (Sept 4, 2003) at 5:20 a.m. at St.
John's Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 2 p.m. Saturday at Full Gospel Church in Lincoln, with the Rev.
Oscar Owens officiating.
Burial will be in
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Lovin was a
technician at Lincoln Developmental Center.
He was born Sept. 1,
1952, at Mount Vernon to Charles Edward and Mary Imogene Bravard
Lovin.
Survivors are his
mother, of Atlanta; two daughters, Tracey Beth (and Josh) Bard of
Lincoln and Angie Colleen (and Tyrone) Whitetree of Lincoln; four
grandchildren; and two sisters, Brenda Spivey of Atlanta and Barbara
(and Robert) White of Emden.
He was preceded in
death by his father and grandparents.
He was a member of
Full Gospel Church of Lincoln.

Albert Brackney
Albert James "A.J."
Brackney, 87, of Lincoln died Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at 5:15 p.m.
at St. Clara's Manor.
A memorial service
will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service time at
the funeral home.
Burial of ashes will
be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Brackney was a
local businessman.
He was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Clemons,
Iowa, to Floyd Vincent and Rose Violet Bryant Brackney. He married
Elizabeth Boatman on Feb. 4, 1950, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are four sons, John
(and Joanie) Brackney of Peoria, David (and Pat) Brackeny of
Chandler, Ariz., James (and Karen) Brackney of Lincoln and Robert
Brackney of Springfield; one daughter, Ruth (and Bill) Eshelman of
Alexandria, Va.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Maxine Klokkenga of Lincoln.
He was a Methodist.

Beulah
Tutter
Beulah F. Tutter, 85, of
Lincoln died Monday (Sept. 1, 2003) at 11:30 p.m. at Maple Ridge
Health Care Centre.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with
the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Burial will be in Zion
Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Tutter was a homemaker.
She
was born March 18, 1918, at New Holland to Joseph and Ida Buchholz
Kline. She married Michael P. Tutter on Dec. 13, 1951, in Lincoln.
He died Sept. 18, 1988.
Survivors are one daughter, Linda (and
John) Larson of Lombard; three grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by one
son, four brothers and one sister.
She was a member of St. John United
Church of Christ in Lincoln.

Loren Masters
Loren W. Masters, 82, of
Lincoln died Feb. 18 at Maple Ridge Care Centre. Graveside committal
of ashes will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, in New Union Cemetery,
Lincoln. The Rev. Don Hoover will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

in Lincoln is handling arrangements.
Mr. Masters was employed by
Sherwin Williams in Chicago for 37 years as a fireman and guard. He
had also taught in country schools and did railroad work.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II.
He was born Dec. 11, 1920, at
Middletown.
A stepdaughter, Eileen Anians
of South Carolina, survives.
He was preceded in death by his
wife and two sisters, Margaret and Lila.
He was a member of Second
Baptist Church of Lincoln and American Legion Post 263.
He graduated from Lincoln

Audry Miller
Audry Miller, 89, died Thursday (Sept. 4, 2003) at 8:50 a.m. at her
home in Bloomington.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist
Church in Lincoln, with Jame Haas officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Miller worked as a bookkeeper at Hodnett Savings and Loan in
Lincoln for nearly 40 years.
She was born Jan. 12, 1914, at Monticello to O.V. and Marguerite
Spurling Milligan. She married Paul C. "Russ" Miller at St. Charles,
Mo., on Jan. 31, 1942. He died Feb. 12, 1981.
Survivors are two daughters, Glenna Read of Bloomington and Colleen
Spurling of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
a sister-in-law, MaryKay Milligan of Mount Pulaski; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded
in death by one stepdaughter, Jeanie Cowser; two brothers, Rupert
and Carroll Milligan; and four sisters, Lois and Louise Milligan,
Bernadine Dubson and Bettie LeVeck. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lincoln Woman's
Club and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She served as secretary for the
planning commission to purchase Memorial Park and was United Fund
secretary for several years.

John Smith
John R. Smith, 77, of San Jose
died Tuesday (Sept. 2, 2003) at 8:35 a.m. at Hopedale Medical
Complex in Hopedale.
His funeral was Friday morning at San Jose United Methodist Church,
with Pastor Adam Corzine
officiating. Visitation was on Thursday at the church.
Burial is in Green Hill
Cemetery, rural San Jose.
Mr. Smith was a farmer.
He was born Nov. 14, 1925, at
San Jose to William I. and Lois P. Stone Smith. He married Catherine
Harmsen on June 4, 1947, in Piggot, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors are one son,
Donald (and Judy) Smith of San Jose; two daughters, Debra (and
Mitch) Nowicki of Naperville and Mary (and Stan) Shepherd of St.
Peters, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.
He was a member of San Jose
United Methodist Church, Lions Club of San Jose and the Delavan
National Guard. He was a volunteer fireman for San Jose, a director
for the San Jose Co-op Elevator and served on the San Jose school
board for 18 years.
He graduated from San Jose High
School, where he was known as a star athlete.
Memorial contributions may be made to San Jose Rescue Squad or San
Jose United Methodist Church.
Edwin 'Corky' Logan
Edwin Carl “Corky” Logan, 67, of Lincoln died Saturday (Aug. 30,
2003) at 9:05 a.m. at his home.
A
memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lincoln Christian
Church, with Tom Gerdts officiating. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Burial of ashes will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr.
Logan retired in August after 36 years at Ball-In Con in Lincoln,
where he was a packer.
He
was born March 18, 1936, in Lincoln to Dean Thurman Logan and Anna Marie Verderber Logan. He married Connie Allsopp on May 12, 1973, in Mount
Pulaski.
Survivors are his wife, of Lincoln; two daughters, Cindy Harris and
Robin Logan, both of Lincoln; four sons, Terry Logan of Waynesville,
Nicholas Logan of North Carolina, Adam Logan of Lincoln and
Christopher Logan of Lincoln; one stepson, Paul Logan, address
unknown; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Koller of
Princeville and Norma Laymon of Lincoln; and one brother, Paul Logan
of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his infant son Carl, his parents, five
brothers and seven sisters.
Memorials may be made
to an educational fund for his children.
