Maxine
Walden
Maxine M. Walden, 67,
of Lincoln died Wednesday (Sept. 17, 2003) at 6 a.m. at her home.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev. Jame
Hahs officiating.
Burial will be in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Walden began
working at Logan County Title Company in 1954 for Lynn R. Parker and
was working for his grandson, Brewster Parker, when she retired 40
years later as secretary for the company.
She was born March 9,
1936, at Emden to Conrad and Marie Rademaker. She married James E.
Walden on Nov. 27, 1971, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden.
Survivors are her
husband, of Lincoln; one brother, Lowell C. (and Mary Ruth)
Rademaker of Emden; one sister, Marcello Brim of Emden; two
brothers-in-law, Smith Walden of Wapella and Wendell (and June)
Walden of Lake Barrington Shores; a sister-in-law, Helen (and
Melvin) Gronewald of Golden; nephews David (and Sherie) Rademaker,
Randall (and Debra) Brim, Joseph Walden, John (and Peggy) Walden,
Jeff Walden and Ronald Gronewald; nieces Diane (and Kent) Kurtz,
Debra (and Dennis) Moehring, Teresa Kastner, Alice Brim, Julie (and
Roy) Schwarzenberg, Sharon Kuhna and Donna (and Richard) Wood; and
28 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, grandparents and one niece.
She was a member of
Lincoln Zonta Club from 1971 through 1977, served as president in
1978 and 1979, and was chairman of numerous committees, including
chairmanship of the Zonta turkey dinner.
She was a member of
First United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
She was confirmed at
St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden in 1950. She taught Sunday
school and sang in the choir many years.
She attended Emden
Elementary School and graduated in 1954 from Hartem High School.
She enjoyed ballroom
dancing, shopping and decorating her home in Lincoln and Florida.
She loved her family
and friends and was loved by all who knew her, especially her
immediate family and husband.

Ethel Lovelace
Ethel M. Lovelace,
93, of Taylorville, formerly of Mount Pulaski, Cornland and
Rochester, died Tuesday (Sept. 16, 2003) at 3:55 p.m. at Taylorville
Care Center.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski, with Bill Shanle and John Robertson officiating. Visitation
will be one hour before the service.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mrs. Lovelace was a
homemaker. She was also a janitor at the Farmers Bank in Mount
Pulaski, worked for Fraiser's Restaurant in Mount Pulaski and was
employed at Lincoln Developmental Center.
She was born Nov. 23,
1909, at Illiopolis to William Albert and Lillie Mae Henry Disney.
She married Roy "Bert" Lovelace in Springfield in 1931. He died Oct.
15, 1976.
Survivors are one
daughter, Norma Shartzer of Mount Auburn; one son, Roy Lovelace of
Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and
one step-great-grandchild; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and
one sister, Wilma Lawrence of Riverton.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
She was a member of Buffalo Christian
Church, Buffalo, to which memorials may be made.

Mabel Hassebrock
Mabel Hassebrock, 88, of Lincoln died
Monday (Sept. 15, 2003) at 10:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation was on
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral service was Thursday
morning at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark
Carnahan officiating.
Burial is in New Union Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Mrs. Hassebrock was a homemaker.
She was born Nov. 9, 1914, at Strasburg
to Charles F. and Esther Doehring Ruwe. She married John W.
Hassebrock Jr. on Jan. 25, 1942, in Lincoln.
Survivors are her husband; four sons,
Eugene (and Marsha) Hassebrock of Lincoln, Alfred (and Doretta)
Hassebrock of Kenney, Edward (and Wanda) Hassebrock of Lincoln and
Edwin (and Nancy) Hassebrock of Armington; one daughter, Lorraine
(and Ken) Wilmert of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren and seven
stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 21
step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one
sister, Bernice Maxheimer, and was the last of her immediate family.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church of Lincoln and the Railsplitter Antique Car Club.

Clinton Lee
Clinton Edward Lee, 21, of
Quincy, formerly of Lincoln and Mattoon, died Tuesday (Sept. 16,
2003) at 4:18 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m.
Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Pastor Curtis Sutterfield
officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Lee was production
supervisor at Morman Feed Mill at Quincy.
He was born Feb. 8,
1982, at Decatur.
Survivors are his
father, Charles Lee, and his stepmother, Theresa Lee, of
Lincoln; his mother, Kennelee Anne Lee of Aurora; one daughter,
Kelsey Lyn Lee of Charleston; three sisters, Kourtney Anne Lee,
Laura Lee and Trinity Lee, all of Lincoln; one brother, Douglas Ryan
Redfern of Mattoon; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Carmen
Lee of Fairfield; his maternal grandparents, Billy J. and Kennedene
Anne Bryson of Pocahontas, Tenn.; and maternal great-grandparents
George and Alberta Roberts of Mattoon.
He was preceded in
death by his paternal great-grandparents.
He was a beloved son,
father, brother, uncle and friend of many.

Florence Pfeifer
Florence L. Pfeifer
of Lincoln died Tuesday (Sept. 16, 2003) at 4:05 p.m. at St. John's
Hospice, Springfield.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Christian Church, with Tom Gerdts
officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Burial will be in St.
Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Pfeifer was a
homemaker and farmer.
She was born at San
Jose to Otis and Trello Nessler Jones. She married Raymond A Pfeifer
on June 22, 1939, at Greenup. He died March 10, 1983.
Survivors are two
daughters, Jacquelyn (and Skip) Baker of Lincoln and Marilyn (and
Dan) Meyer of Lincoln; one son, Ronald (and Susan) Pfeifer of
Beaumont, Texas; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one
sister, Mildred Cass of Tulsa, Okla.; and a longtime friend, John
Funkhauser of Springfield.
She was also preceded
in death by one brother.
She was a member of
Lincoln Christian Church, Lincoln Elks Emblem Club, Logan County
Farm Bureau, New Holland Community Club and United Methodist Women's
Club. She was a volunteer for C.R.O.P. and Cancer Drive and was a
leader for Girl Scouts and Methodist Youth Fellowship.

Lois Swaar
Lois B. Swaar, 95, of
Mason City died Tuesday (Sept. 16, 2003) at 10:35 a.m. at Mason City
Area Nursing Home.
Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
Her funeral service
will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mason City United Presbyterian Church,
with the Rev. Randall Paine officiating.
Mrs. Swaar was a
homemaker, and she taught school for several years.
She was born Sept.
28, 1907, in Mason County to Joseph and Bertha Hurley Fink. She
married Lloyd Swaar on Dec. 25, 1930, in Mason City. He died May 12,
1992.
Survivors are two
sons, Don (and Margaret) Swaar of Mason City and Joe (and Helen)
Swaar of Mason City; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded
in death by one brother and one sister.
She was a member of
Mason City United Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school
teacher and pianist for the Missionary Society. She was also a
member of Euterpians and a 50-year member of the Woman's Club.
She attended Lincoln
College.
