Lincoln -- Harmon Dale Swinford, 57, of Lincoln passed away 10:45 AM Sunday, August 15, 2005 at home with his family.

 Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln, Illinois .  Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at Bennett Funeral Home with Pastor Clyde Shreve officiating.  Burial will be in Zion Cemetery Lincoln, Illinois.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Wayne J. Schall Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

 Mr. Swinford was born July 16, 1948 in Gideon, Missouri , the son of Harmon L. Swinford and Illa C. (Carter) Swinford.  He was retired from Jerry Davis Trucking in Elkhart, Illinois after many years of service .

William O. Gilmer, Jr          Send a link to a friend

Lincoln - William O. Gilmer, Jr., 39, died Aug. 14 at 11:35 a.m. at Asta Care, Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 2 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Lincoln.

A service is planned at 10 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Lincoln on Thursday with Rev. Mike Oleniczak officiating.

Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Gilmer was born in Lincoln on Nov. 14, 1965 to William O. and Betty Hopp Gilmer, Sr.

He is survived by his mother; one son, William “Will” Gilmer and one daughter, Emily P. Gilmer, both of Lincoln; four sisters, Sarah Jones and Gloria J. Gilmer both of Florida, Debra S. Gilmer, Lincoln, and Ethel May Spivey of the state of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his father, paternal and maternal grandparents.

He was a member of Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge, #2708.

Wayne T. Marvel         Send a link to a friend

LINCOLN – Wayne T. Marvel, 81, died at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday at his home.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader. The Elk’s Lodge will have a service at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m.

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader with Rev. Julie Azbell officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery with full military rites accorded.

Mr. Marvel was retired from Caterpillar Tire and Tractor in Decatur where he worked as a forklift operator.

He was born on July 24, 1924 to Charles and Ida Gambrel Marvel in Waynesville.

He married Betty J. Ingram on Dec. 28, 1985 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on Dec. 8,1996.

He married Betty Wade on July 19, 1998 in Lincoln. She survives.

He is also survived by one son, Terry Marvel of Blufton, S.C.; one daughter, Ida (Dennis) Dix of Collinsville; two step sons, Jess Wade of Lincoln and Tom (Pat) Wade of Westerfield, OH; two step daughters, Diane (Ron) Tucker and Linda (Bill) Melton, both of Lincoln; one brother, William (Sue) Marvel of Waynesville; four sisters, Leona Bicknell of Atlanta, Emma Jean Graham of Saybrook, Ada Kindred of Atlanta and Wanda Zurkamer of Lincoln. Also three grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and one sister.

Mr. Marvel was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was past Exalted Ruler of Lincoln Elks Lodge #914 DeWitt Masonic Lodge.

He was a U.S. Navy Tail Gunner during WW II.

Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers. The family asks that they be made the Elks National Scholarship Fund in c/o the Lincoln Elks Lodge #914. Memorials may also be made to the American Lung Association.
