[AUG. 24, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Light lunch bingo

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor a light lunch, consisting of sandwiches and treats, at noon Thursday at The Oasis. Bingo will follow at 1 p.m. Bring a friend and come join the fun!

6th annual flea market

The Oasis will once again transform Scully Park into a flea market in conjunction with the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival. The flea market officially opens Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Scheduled hours Saturday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The "Open Air Cafe" will have an expanded menu, with fresh grilled items and drinks available. The senior center will be open for cool comfort and lunch with specials. For extra homemade treats, there will be at bake sale inside the senior center. Come join the flea market fun in conjunction with the weekend festival.

Oasis closed Monday

The Oasis will be closed Monday in order to assist with cleaning up at Scully Park. Activities at the senior center will resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Aug. 30 will feature chicken stir fry, fried rice, chow mein noodles, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. The ticket deadline will be at noon Friday, earlier than usual, due to the senior center being closed on Monday.

Winners announced

Linda Hughes and Wilbur Wilmert were weekend pinochle winners. Mina Bradburn and Linda Hughes were weekday pinochle winners. For five-in-one, the winners were Joann Eckert and Bernie DePuy. Winner of the drawing for lunch at Steve's Family Restaurant was Margaret Lahr.
