[JAN. 4, 2005]  KEOKUK, Iowa -- The Tri-State Woodcarvers Club of Keokuk is hosting a woodcarving show during Bald Eagle Appreciation Days Jan. 15-16. The show will be inside the Keokuk Art Center in the River City Mall, 300 Main St., and show hours are 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. each day.

Carvers from Iowa, Illinois and Missouri will be demonstrating and selling. Various types of woodcarving will be shown, including carving in the round, relief, stylized, realistic, chip carving, intarsia, pyrographic and scroll saw work. 

There will be a woodcarving contest both days. Each carver will be given a blank and 90 minutes to complete the project. These will be on display.

Bald Eagle Appreciation Days will also feature indoor live eagle presentations by the World Bird Sanctuary, the Worthen Earth Searchers Rock Show, Native American activities, the Spratt Family Jubilee and viewing of eagles in the wild.

Keokuk is the home of the largest concentration of American bald eagles on the Mississippi River.

Bald Eagle Appreciation Days is presented by the Keokuk Area Convention & Tourism Bureau and the Lee County Conservation Board.
