[JAN. 12, 2004]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Potluck and bingo Thursday

Come join us for the potluck that begins at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. We will be featuring ham and beans, side dishes, and desserts. Seniors are invited to bring a dish to pass or a $3 donation. The Oasis will sponsor the weekly bingo games that begin at 1 p.m. Come enjoy an afternoon of fun and surprises.

Annual board meeting open to public

The annual board meeting of Senior Citizens of Logan County will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the senior center. The meeting is open to the public. Board members' confirmations and a summary of highlights of 2004 activities are on the agenda. Notification must be received in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a board meeting date to schedule any items on the agenda.

Jan. 17 holiday

The Oasis will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Day. Activities will resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch on Jan. 18 will feature hot dogs on bun, green beans, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75. The Oasis will be closed Monday, so get your tickets before this week ends.

Dinner theater matinee and Nashville North

A few seats remain on the senior center van for the Feb. 9 trip to the murder mystery dinner theater at Starved Rock Lodge. Registration deadline is Feb. 1. The fee, which includes transportation and dinner, is $35 for Oasis members and $37 for nonmembers.

Nashville North in Taylorville features Mickey Gilley on Jan. 29. The fee, which includes transportation only, is $39 for Oasis members and $41 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Jan. 21. If interested, please call 732-6132 for reservations.

Winners announced

Dolly Mears and Marjorie Reiners were weekday winners for pinochle. The weekend pinochle winner was Ruth Ackerman.
