[JUNE 23, 2005]  Lincoln American Legion Post 263 defeated Springfield Post 32 14-3 Wednesday evening in Springfield. The win makes Lincoln's record 8-1.

John Foley went seven innings for Lincoln, allowing only four hits and one earned run while striking out three.

Lincoln pounded out 18 hits, six for extra bases. Drew Olson had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs. Four Lincoln hitters had two hits each: Tyson Durst, including two RBIs; Kevin Carroll, including one RBI; Tim Guy; and Bobby Maestas. Cory Pelc had a triple with three RBIs.

The play of the game undoubtedly went to Eric Broughton. With one out in the Springfield eighth, Broughton ran from left center to right center to make a spectacular diving catch on a fly ball at the base of the wall.
