LINCOLN -- Donabelle J.
Oldham, 71, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 8:10
p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8
p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln,
with the Rev. Jame Hahs and the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating.
Burial will be in Zion
Cemetery.
Mrs. Oldham retired in 1989
from Magna Bank, where she was supervisor of the proof
department.
She was born June 1, 1933, at
Oconee to Loren and Vera Nowlin Manuel. She married Thomas
Oldham on Aug. 31, 1952, at Pana.
She is survived by her
husband, of Lincoln; three sons, Tommy (and April) Oldham of
Delta Junction, Alaska, Bobby Oldham of Kenney and Billy (and
Julie) Oldham of Atlanta; one daughter, Jan Wood of Lincoln;
three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; one
step-great-grandchild; and one sister, Doris (and Floyd)
Hinton of Tower Hill.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson.
She was a member of the First
United Methodist Church and the church’s Ruth Circle and was
associated with the Lincoln Food Pantry.
Memorials may be made to the
church, the food pantry or the American Kidney Foundation.

LINCOLN --
John E. Nighswander, 94, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 5:45
p.m. at the Christian Village.
His funeral
will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Christian Church, with
Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Visitation will be from
10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will
be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon.
Mr.
Nighswander worked at the General Electric plant in Mattoon
for 29 years. He retired in 1976.
He was born
Jan. 16, 1911, in Moultrie County to Grover and Mary Kirk
Nighswander. He married Reba Smith on April 1, 1933, at
Bridgeport. She died March 22, 2002.
He is
survived by four sons, Richard (and Donna) Nighswander of
LaGrange, Ronald (and Stelle) Nighswander of Philadelphia,
Pa., James (and Karen) Nighswander of Springfield and Thomas
(and Judy) Nighswander of Chicago; 17 grandchildren; and 38
great-grandchildren.
He was also
preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one daughter,
Nancy Sager.
He was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Mattoon.
Memorials
may be made to the Christian Village.

LINCOLN -- Robert "Bob" Ernest
Hoffert, 87, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 2:50 a.m. at the
Christian Village.
His funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev.
Mark Carnahan officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln
and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Burial, with military rites,
will be in Old Union Cemetery.
Mr. Hoffert retired from
Commonwealth Edison-CILCO in 1977.
He served in the U.S. Army
Military Police from 1942 to 1945, during World War II.
He was born
Oct. 17, 1917, in Beason to Ernest and Lena Borchardt Hoffert.
He married Verniece “Totty” Liesman on Aug. 9, 1941, in
Palmyra, Mo.
He is
survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three sons, Allen Hoffert,
Donald (and Karen) Hoffert and Darwin (and Beth) Hoffert, all
of Lincoln; two daughters, Roberta (and Darrell) Wibben of
Lincoln and Joyce (and Steve) Geary of Lincoln; 11
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren
He was
preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters and was the
last of his immediate family. A daughter-in-law, Odette
Hoffert, also preceded him in death.
He was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to Zion
Lutheran School or Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln or to the
donor's choice.

LINCOLN -- Cynthia "Tabby" L.
White, 68, of Lincoln, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at 5:02 p.m.
at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Her body was cremated.
A memorial service will be at
1:30 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln, with Bill Shanle officiating. Visitation will be at
the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the service
time.
Mrs. White worked as a
certified nursing assistant at Vonderlieth Living Center in
Mount Pulaski and was a homemaker.
She was born March 14, 1937, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Melvin
and Dorothy Childers Peake. She married Robert T. White on
June 1, 1953, in Springfield. He died March 4, 1997.
She is survived by four sons,
Michael (and Lynn) White of Lincoln, George (and Melissa)
White of Lincoln, David (and Monica) White of Lincoln and
William Joe (and Lori) White of Melbourne, Fla.; two
daughters, Debra (and Larry) Wagner of Cottonwood, Ariz., and
Mary (and David) Shaffer of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren and
three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one
brother, Walter “Sonny” (and Brenda) Childers Jr. of
Springfield; and four sisters, Barbara (and Art) Hall, Linda
(and Danny) Fyke and Kathy Collier, all of Decatur, and Pat
(and Jack) Hinton of Kenney.
She was also preceded in death
by her parents, two brothers, one sister and two
grandchildren.
She enjoyed playing cards,
bingo and dominoes.
Memorials may be made to St.
Jude's Research Hospital.

LINCOLN -- Thomas C. Fulk Jr.,
68, of Lincoln, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at 2:44 p.m. at his
home.
His body was cremated, and
there will be no services.
Arrangements were handled by
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mr. Fulk was a truck driver,
hauling horses.
He was born April 17, 1937, in
Logan County to Thomas and Opal Quick Fulk Sr. He married
Carol Leftwich on Dec. 21, 1974.
His only survivor is his
ex-wife, of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and two sisters and was the last of his immediate
family.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Harold D.
Fulk, 80, of Mount Pulaski, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at 5:12
a.m. at his home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7
p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
the funeral home, with Bill Shanle officiating.
Burial, with military rites,
will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mr. Fulk was a fire inspector
at Caterpillar in Morton for 33 years.
He served in the U.S. Army
from 1943-1945, during World War II.
He was born Jan. 10, 1925, in
Broadwell Township, Logan County, to Lee and Lula Arner Fulk.
He married Maxine Carnahan on Aug. 8, 1948, in Bloomington.
She died May 21, 1998.
He is survived by five
children, Alan Cromer of California, Terry Fulk of Ocala,
Fla., Virginia Fulk of Mount Pulaski, Richard Fulk of Decatur
and Nancy Fulk Gray of Chicago; seven grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Hunt of Lincoln and
Faye Donnan of Broadwell.
He was also preceded in death
by three sisters and three brothers.
He was a charter member of VFW Post 777.
He received a Bronze Star,
European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze
Service Stars, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal,
Purple Heart and Victory Medal. He fought proudly at the
Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes, Belgium.
