            PEORIA -- Students
who are considering attending a U.S. military academy are encouraged

The forum will begin at 7 p.m. at the
Peoria Air National Guard Base, 182nd Airlift Wing HQ Building, 2402
            S. Falcon Blvd. in Bartonville.
             Representatives from each of the
five academies will be in attendance to answer questions about their
respective academy and to explain the application process and
            admission requirements.
            The Central Illinois Air Force
Academy Parents Club will also be represented. Parents of currently
enrolled academy students will be in attendance to answer questions
that potential students or their parents might have about life at a
            military academy.
            LaHood annually makes nominations to
the service academies, following an extensive interview process.
Students submit their applications in the fall of each year, with
the nominations taking place in midwinter. Once a student is
nominated, it is up to each academy to determine final acceptance.
            Students, parents and school
representatives are encouraged to attend the forum. Refreshments
            will be served.
