LEWISTOWN -- Art Lang and Cathy Ciolac will bring their superb
traditional music and smooth voices to the Hickory Ridge concert series on
Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Art and Cathy perform primarily traditional music, with
much of their favorite material coming from the old Appalachian tradition,
including many Carte Family songs and other old-time country duets.

"This is the sort of music that saw a
resurgence with the popularity of the soundtrack of 'O Brother Where
Art Thou' a few years ago," said Joel Brunsvold, director of the
Illinois Department of Natural Resources. "This is a great chance to
hear toe-tapping, quality music live."
Art Lang plays banjo, fretless banjo,
guitar, fiddle, harmonica and other old-time instruments. Cathy
Ciolac plays the Appalachian dulcimer and autoharp. Lang's fine
playing, beautiful harmonies and enthusiastic performance complement
Ciolac's clear, pure voice and unique way of interpreting a song.
Their performances have been described as "old-time music at its
finest."
The Hickory Ridge Coffeehouse is
hosted by singer-songwriter Chris Vallillo and features a short open
mic session before the first set. Coffeehouses are scheduled for the
third Saturday of every month at Dickson Mounds Museum and begin at
7:30 p.m., with the museum lobby opening at 6:30 p.m. Coffee, drinks
and a variety of desserts are available during intermission.
There is an admission charge of $5
per adult and $3 for children under 12. Seating is limited to the
first 150 people.
