Lincoln College sophomore Sarah Franklin,
daughter of Robert and Kim Franklin of Hoopeston, has been named
student laureate to the Lincoln Academy, a private, nonprofit
organization established to honor Illinois citizens whose
contributions have brought honor to the state. Winners are selected
by top administrators of their schools on the basis of academic
success, extracurricular activities and contributions to their
school.

Lincoln College is included in the Lincoln Academy program because
of the school’s original charter as Lincoln University in 1865.
Lincoln College President John M. Hutchinson commented that Franklin
is a very positive addition to Lincoln College. "We are happy that
Sarah chose Lincoln College, and we are delighted to see that she is
receiving this recognition," he said. "She is involved with a
variety of athletic groups within the Lincoln College campus
community, and her leadership and dedication is admired by many. She
has made an impact on her peers at Lincoln College."
