The Chester 4-H Club hosted the Logan County
4-H International Night program at the Logan County Extension
building on Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Shelby Voyles welcomed everyone and
also gave the invocation. Rachael Jones introduced the guest
speaker. Approximately 80 youth, parents and club leaders enjoyed a
variety of foreign foods and table displays.

This year's guest speaker was Myhanh Nguyen, who was born in
Vietnam. She has lived in United States for 17 years. She graduated
from Lincoln Community High School, then Lincoln College. Currently,
she is a part-time student at Illinois State University with a
full-time job at State Farm Insurance Companies working in the
Financial Reporting and Analysis Department. Myhanh is married and
has a 12-year-old daughter.
The objectives for the evening were to learn something about a
foreign country, make a display of what each 4-H club learned and
speak briefly about the display, prepare enough food from the
country of the club's choice to feed the number of people coming
from each group, and tell the group what they are eating. The
following five 4-H clubs participated: The Pioneers represented
Japan, the 4 Corner Clovers focused on Guatemala, the Hollanders
highlighted Germany, Wide-A-Wake chose Japan, and Chester 4-H Club
represented Thailand.
