The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Light lunch bingo
St. Clara's Manor will sponsor a "light lunch," consisting of
sandwiches and treats, at noon Thursday at The Oasis. Bingo will
follow at 1 p.m. Bring a friend, come join the fun, and win a prize!
Need help with insurance forms?
The Oasis and the Senior Health Insurance Program sponsor
assistance to seniors with their insurance forms. The volunteers are
trained by the Department of Insurance to guide you through problems
involving Medicare, Medicare supplements, long-term care insurance,
retiree health plans claims and processing, and appealing denied
claims. Call 732-6132 to schedule an appointment for any Thursday
afternoon.
Tuesday lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Nov. 1 will feature baked barbecue
chicken, mashed cauliflower and cheese, salad, bread and butter,
dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play
cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.

Hearing screening
The Oasis will be taking appointments for hearing screening. Call
735-6132 for a time between 10 a.m. and noon on Nov. 2. This free
service is provided by Joyce Dearth of the Hearing Aid Center.
Winners for the week announced
Wilbur Wilmert and Ruth Ackerman were pinochle winners for Friday
and Sunday night. Eleanor Barton was weekday pinochle winner. Friday
night five-in-one winners were Ella Lee Graney and Joann Eckert.
