Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His
funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral
home. Burial, with military rites, will be in
Union Cemetery.
Mr. Wood was a truck driver for Melvin Trucking
and Lincoln Transfer.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II,
from 1944 to 1946.
He was born Jan. 17, 1926, at St. Joseph to John
B. and Ella B. Cochran Wood. He married Betty Jean
Bunch on Sept. 26, 1953, in Lincoln; she preceded
him in death April 6, 1985. He then married Charline
M. Hurley on Sept. 7, 1985, in Elkhart; she preceded
him in death March 2, 1992.
He is survived by one son, Les R. (and Barbara)
Wood of Lincoln; two stepsons, Mark (and Vicki)
Hurley of Russellville, Ark., and Charles (and
Jeanne) Hurley of Quincy; one brother, Loren (and
Mary Ann) Wood of Cook, Minn.; three grandchildren
and two stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Chuck
Wood; three sisters, Marianne Knott, Lois Ramlow and
Iris Elsas; and one stepgranddaughter, Savannah
Hurley.
He was of the Christian faith.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 916.
