Dwaine Kretzinger

[NOV. 30, 2006]  CHESTNUT -- Dwaine W. Kretzinger, 75, of Chestnut died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at 7:52 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Steve Ingram officiating.

Burial will be in Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut.

Mr. Kretzinger was a grocer and co-owner of D& J Concessions. He managed Franks Food Fair in Lincoln, Taylorville, and Bloomington.

He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Lincoln to Eugene L. and Mae L. Ball Kretzinger. He married Jo-Ann Gambrel in Lincoln on Sept. 21, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2003.

He is survived by three daughters, Leigh Ann (and Ron) Troyer of Bloomington, Lynn Marie (and Michael) Hanamura of Folsom, Calif., and Lori Kretzinger of Springfield; one brother, Roger (and Jwana) Kretzinger of Chestnut; two grandchildren, Sgt. Ryan Mathew (and Teresa) McLane of Fort Riley, Kan., and Amy Lynne Rohrschneider of Bloomington; 13 great-grandchildren, Aidan Edwards and Ezri Edwards of Bloomington, River McLane, Wheeler McLane, Shaelyn McLane, Mitchell Cheek and Taylor Struck of Fort Riley, Kan., Taylor Hanamura, Chris Mulrooney, Katelyn Mulrooney, James Stempeck, Joseph Stempeck and Johnna Stempeck of California; one niece, Cary Swan; two nephews, Tracy Matherly and Joe Kretzinger; and a special friend, Nancy Kleinman of Lincoln.

He was also preceded in death by one sister and a son-in-law, Hugh Rohrschneider.

He was a member of the Chestnut United Methodist Church, was on the board of directors of the Illinois Country Music Association and was recognized by the Logan County Fair for many years of service.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved working with his extensive outdoor holiday lighting display.
