Christmas services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Send a link to a friend [DEC. 22, 2006] Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will have a regular service with Dave Comstock as guest speaker on Sunday at 10 a.m. Then at 6 p.m. there will be a candlelight service with Holy Communion. Pastor Roger David will conduct the service on Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. [Announcement provided by George Dahmm] Christmas services at St. John United Church of Christ Send a link to a friend [DEC. 22, 2006] T wo services are planned for Sunday at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln.At the 10:30 a.m. service the chancel choir will present the cantata "Do You Hear What I Hear?" by Noel Regney and Gloria Shayne, arranged by Mark Brymer and Susan Naylor Callaway. Soprano Jane Thompson is the soloist, and Heather Goetsch, Andrew Goetsch and Nathan Aue are narrators and readers. The service will also include a vocal solo by Joey Feldmann, "Were You There on That Christmas Night?" by Natalie Sleeth, and a chime choir selection, "Mary, Did You Know?" arranged by Douglas Wagner. The Christmas Eve candlelight service begins at 11 p.m., preceded by a group of selections by the bell choir. The ceremony of lessons and carols will be conducted by Pastor Rich Reinwald and intern Joey Feldmann, with Laura Lee at the organ. Feldmann and Michael Schneider will sing "Mary, Did You Know?" by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene, arranged by Bryce Inman. The service will include celebration of communion and will conclude with the congregation singing "Silent Night," lit only by the many candles. [News release] Argentinian missionary Judith VanOsdol to be at Emden church [DEC. 16, 2006] EMDEN -- Pastor David L. Hofer has announced that missionary Judith VanOsdol will be at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 120 Market St., on Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m. to share information on her work in Argentina. Pastor Osdol and her husband, Dr. Gullermo Hansen, will also address the Sunday school at 9:15 that morning. The Rev. Judith VanOsdol is a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is a missionary serving the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Argentina and Uruguay. She is also continental coordinator of women's ministries and the gender justice desk of the Latin American Council of Churches. Her work includes teaching, leading international workshops, publishing, organizing and advocacy from a gender and international human rights perspective, with special emphasis on overcoming violence in all forms and promoting biblical and theological training of women, including those from indigenous and Afro-descendant communities. She has been an ELCA missionary for 12 years. Her husband is also a Lutheran pastor and is professor of systematic theology at the Ecumenical Seminary in Buenos Aires. They have two children, Daniel, 16, and Lia, 12. The United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Argentina and Uruguay is a member of the Lutheran World Federation, and the Latin American Council of Churches serves 170 Christian churches in 20 countries of Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
