Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at 7 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in
Springfield.
Arrangements are pending at Peasley Funeral Home.

Ruth 'Betty' Tiffany

LINCOLN -- Ruth E. "Betty" Tiffany, 68, of Lincoln died
Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at 1:25 a.m. at Memorial Medical
Center in Springfield.
A prayer service and visitation were on Friday at Peasley
Funeral Home.
Her funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy
Family Church, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural
Middletown.
Mrs. Tiffany was employed for many years as manager of
the relief office for West Lincoln Township and later as
township supervisor.
She was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Lincoln to George "Bud"
and Edith Claire "E.C." Gaffney Dehner. She married Tom C.
Tiffany on April 6, 1959, at St. Patrick's Church in
Lincoln.
Mrs. Tiffany is survived by her husband; one daughter,
Rachael A. (and Richard) Simpson of Beaver Creek, Ohio; two
sons, Doug (and Cathy) Tiffany of Lincoln and Tom R. (and
Sandy) Tiffany of Lincoln; one brother, Gerald (and Susan)
Dehner of Lincoln; two sisters, Nancy (and Dewey) Mathews of
Edwardsville and Val (and Gary) Crawford of Lombard; an
aunt, Louise "Sis" Dehner; an uncle, Emory (and Dorothy)
Gaffney of Lincoln; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Bret and
Emily Simpson of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Elaine, Sam, Will
and Adrienne Tiffany of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of Holy Family Church, American Legion
Auxiliary and Republican Women's Club.
She graduated from Lincoln High School and from William
Woods College in Fulton Mo.
Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School or the
American Cancer Society.

Joseph Thomas

LINCOLN -- Joseph F. Thomas, 73, of Lincoln died
Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at 2:20 p.m. at his home.
His funeral was Saturday morning at Holy Family
Church, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating.
Burial, with military rites, was in Union Cemetery.
There was no visitation.
Arrangements were by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Mr. Thomas worked for the state of Illinois for 7 1/2
years and then for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 23 1/2 years
before he retired.
He served in the U.S. Army for eight years.
He was born May 2, 1932, at Calvary, Ky., to Henry Ryan
and Ellen Catherine Thomas. He married Opal Lillian Seidler
on April 28, 1950, in Lincoln.
He is survived by two sisters, Lucille St. Clair and
Teresa Smith, both of Campbellsville, Ky., one brother,
James D. Thomas of Laurel, Md.; one brother-in-law, Thad
Smith of Campbellsville, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Inez
Thomas of Mount Airy, Md., and Sandra Thomas of Laurel, Md.;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two
brothers, Marvin Thomas and Bill Adrian; and a
brother-in-law, Floyd St. Clair.
He was a member of Holy Family Church.
Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School.

Florence Ackerman

LINCOLN -- Florence M. Ackerman, 76, of Lincoln died
Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at 9:40 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care
Centre.
No visitation is scheduled. Cremation rites have been
accorded.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New
Union Cemetery.
Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 24, 1929, in Logan County to Carl and
Lena Skonetski Ramlow. She married William A. Ackerman on
Dec. 28, 1947, at Emden. He died June 15, 1986.
Mrs. Ackerman is survived by her daughter, Mary (and
husband Jerry) Berglin of Lincoln; three sisters, Martha
Mosier and Ruth Ackerman, both of Lincoln, and Lena Ingram
of Broadwell; one brother, Donald Ramlow of Lincoln; two
grandchildren, Jeramy (and Kim) Berglin of Lincoln and
Carrie (and Greg) Fletcher of Quincy; and four
great-grandchildren, Lane and Jake Berglin of Lincoln and
Paige and Nicole Fletcher of Quincy.
She was also preceded in death one son, Paul Ackerman,
and one brother, Carl C. Ramlow.
Mrs. Ackerman was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Lincoln.

VNA Hospice of Illinois, 720 N. Bond St., Springfield, IL
