DELAVAN -- Jerry Ray Crane, 65, of Delavan died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at 3:05 p.m. at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David L. Hofer, the Rev. Gene Peisker and John Cross officiating.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Mr. Crane was a farmer in the Hartsburg and Emden area.

He was born Jan. 20, 1940, to Kenneth "Jack" and Beulah Campbell Crane. He married Vicki Fink on Aug. 2, 1958, at Emden.

He is survived by his wife, of Delavan; one son, Todd Crane of Emden; two daughters, Tonya (and Nathan) Bassett of Atlanta and Tasha (and Uvaldo) Herrera of Bloomington; two brothers, Ron (and Sandy) Crane of Lincoln and Richard (and Lynette) Crane of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; one sister, Joann (and Tony) Behrends of York, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Brandon and Christopher Crane, Mitchell and Shelby Daugherty, and Isabela Herrera.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Timothy Ray Crane.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Emden, where he served on the church council, call committee, outreach committee, social statement committee, board of parish education, was superintendent for Sunday school and a member of Brotherhood.

He was the longest-standing member of the Hartsburg Grain board and had been vice president of the board in 1967. He was a board member for Hartsburg-Emden School from 1969 to 1972

He was one of the founders of Camp Griesheim Christian Retreat Center and had served as board chairman since its founding. He was instrumental in bringing the Kogudus renewal ministry to Illinois in the early 1970s.

Larry Bishop

LINCOLN -- Larry J. Bishop, 64, of Lincoln died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at 7:15 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at New Union Cemetery, with Richard Miller officiating.

There is no visitation.

Mr. Bishop retired in 1999 from Chuck Merrill Construction, Springfield.

He was born Feb. 11, 1941, at Norris City to Rolla and Edna Mae Hill Bishop. He married Judy Hampleman on Aug. 17, 1962, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; his mother, of Lincoln; two sons, John (and Jeanne) Prince of Vero Beach, Fla., and Michael (and Sandy) Purviance of Castle Rock, Colo.; two daughters, Cindy Head of Beltsville, Md., and Marci (and Pete) Vasilades of Lockport; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a member of Teamsters Local 916.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.

John 'Daniel' Davis

BEASON -- John "Daniel" Davis, 66, of Beason died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at 10 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A memorial service was at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Elkhart Christian Church, Elkhart, with Bob Twist officiating.

There was no visitation.

Burial, with military rites, will be at a later date at Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart.

Arrangements were handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Davis retired from Davis Truck Service after 25 years of service.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was born July 28, 1939, in Springfield to John Delmar and Thelma Vivian Johnson Davis. He married Phyllis May Halladay on Nov. 2, 1963, at Elkhart.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; his mother, of Elkhart; one son, Cheston (and wife Lizbeth) Davis of Villa Grove; two daughters, Melinda (and Marvin) Soelle of Weyerhaeuser, Wis., and Angela (and Dustin) Pitts of Beason; three brothers, Roger (and Mary Lou) Davis of Pennsylvania, Carl (and Elizabeth Kay) Davis of Elkhart and Brad (and Debbie) Davis of Chadwick; two sisters, Sue Roush of Industry and Sheryl (and Stephen) Deckro of Morrison; and five grandchildren, Ashley Kate Polk, Chelsea Elaine Pitts, Jonathan Earl Soelle, Ryan Lance Pitts and Isidora B. Davis.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Tony William Davis; and one grandson, Jeremy Soelle.

He was a member of the Elkhart Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the church or the American Cancer Society.

Ernest Oglesby

LINCOLN -- Ernest "Ernie" L. Oglesby, 70, of Lincoln died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation was at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, and a service at the funeral home was at 11 a.m. Monday.

Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Oglesby was water and sewer superintendent for Williamsville for 14 years and worked for the Lincoln Water Corporation for 10 years.

He was in the Illinois National Guard for 14 years.

He was born May 29, 1935, in Springfield to Ernest Mace and Mary Ruth Mullikin Oglesby. He married Jean O'Neal on Nov. 28, 1954, in Williamsville.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two daughters, Susan White of Lincoln and Sally (and husband Roger) Gosda of Lincoln; one son, Stuart (and wife Kerri) of Phoenixville, Pa.; two brothers, Bill (wife Jean) Oglesby of Williamsville and Charles (and wife Marguerite) Oglesby of Kinston, N.C.; five grandchildren, Jenny and Adam White and Chris, Kelly and Katie Gosda; and several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Williamsville High School in 1953.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
