					ELKHART -- Joseph E. Ginter, 73, of Elkhart died Saturday, 
					Jan. 21, 2006, at 8:15 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in 
					Springfield. 
					Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 
					Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with a 6:30 
					p.m. Illinois State Police walk-through and a 7 p.m. prayer 
					service. 
					Another visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 
					Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Cullom, with a 6:30 p.m. 
					Illinois State Police walk-through and a 7 p.m. prayer 
					service. 
					His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's 
					Catholic Church, Cullom. Father Thomas Shaw will officiate. 
					Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Cullom. 
					Mr. Ginter was a colonel in Illinois State Police 
					Administration District 9. 
					He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. 
					He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Ford County to Lester 
					Joseph and Sarah Diebel Ginter. He married Mary Eileen Cox 
					in 1959. 
					He is survived by his wife, of Elkhart; one daughter, 
					Kathy Ginter of Mooresville, N.C.; two sons, Dan (and Sara) 
					Ginter of Elkhart and Mark (and Diane) Ginter of Ferdinand, 
					Ind.; two sisters, Mary Arletta Dohery of Joliet and 
					Margaret Ann Van Alstyne of Cullom; and nine grandchildren. 
					He was preceded in death by his father and one son, 
					Mathew Lester Ginter. 
					He was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church 
					in Elkhart, where he served as trustee, religious education 
					teacher, lector and usher. He was also a member of American 
					Legion Post 122 in Cullom. 
					He recently served on the Elkhart Sesquicentennial 
					Committee. 
					Memorials may be made to the Illinois State Police 
					Heritage Foundation or the Joe E. Ginter Grandchildren 
					College Education Fund. Both funds are established at the 
					Illinois State Police Federal Credit Union. Memorials will 
					be accepted at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home and Martin-Burke Funeral

					ATLANTA -- Roger W. Armstrong, 42, of Atlanta died 
					Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at 1:35 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln 
					Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. 
					Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the 
					Atlanta Christian Church. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. 
					Wednesday at the church, with Maurice Stribling and Dennis 
					Smith officiating. 
					Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery. 
					Quiram Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 
					Mr. Armstrong was employed as a financial analyst at 
					Country Companies in Bloomington. 
					He served in the U.S. Army. 
					He was born Jan. 16, 1964, at Chester to George R. and 
					Elsie Tibbs Armstrong. He married Tina Collins on Aug. 22, 
					1998, at Atlanta. 
					He is survived by his wife; his stepmother, Betty 
					Armstrong of Lincoln; two daughters, Kelsy and Andrea 
					Armstrong of Atlanta; one sister, Debbie Menken of Atlanta; 
					three brothers, Bob Armstrong of Springfield, Ray Armstrong 
					of Atlanta and Chuck Tibbs of Middletown; and several nieces 
					and nephews. 
					He was preceded in death by his father and one brother. 
					He was a member of the Atlanta Fire Department and the 
					Atlanta Rescue Squad. 
					Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlanta Fire

					ATLANTA -- Beverly Jean Cruz, 55, of Elgin, formerly of 
					Atlanta, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at 3:45 p.m. at her 
					home. 
					Visitation in Elgin will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and 
					Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. 
					Local visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 
					the Eminence Christian Church, rural Atlanta. Her funeral 
					will be at noon Thursday at the church, with Andy Glass 
					officiating. 
					Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. 
					Quiram Funeral Home is handling local arrangements. 
					She was born May 24, 1950, at Lincoln to Everett Leon and 
					Margaret Van Hoorn Renfrow. She married Ron Cruz on July 27, 
					1990. 
					She is survived by her husband; two sons, Jeff Doss of 
					Streator and Joel Doss of Farmer City; one daughter, Jeanene 
					Cheek of Mansfield; one stepdaughter, Paulette (and husband 
					Jim) Goodrum of Zion; two stepsons, Ronald (and wife Chie) 
					Cruz of Elgin and Mikie Cruz of Elgin; two sisters, Connie 
					(and Tom) Wertheim of Atlanta and Linda (and husband Kim) 
					Shepherd of Normal; five grandchildren; and 12 
					stepgrandchildren. 
					Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the

					ATLANTA -- Mary L. Shay, 86, of Atlanta died Friday, Jan. 
					20, 2006, at 9:50 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital 
					in Lincoln. 
					Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Quiram 
					Funeral Home. 
					A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 
					St. Mary's Church. Abbot Claude Peifer will officiate. 
					Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln. 
					Mrs. Shay was a homemaker. 
					She was born May 22, 1919, at Lincoln to George A. and 
					Oliva R. Meyer Seller. She married Frank J. Shay on June 7, 
					1947, at Lincoln. He died April 24, 1986. 
					She is survived by one son, Mike (and Sue) Shay of 
					Atlanta; two daughters, Cindy Mont of Atlanta and Judy 
					Quisenberry of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Becca Fisher, 
					Michael Shay, Amanda Quisenberry, Danielle Mont and Travis 
					Mont; and two great-grandchildren. 
					She was also preceded in death by two daughters. 
					Mrs. Shay was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Altar 
					and Rosary Society of the church, and the Atlanta Woman's 
					Club.
