Frances Ritterbush

[JULY 15, 2006]  NEW HOLLAND -- Frances Catherine Ritterbush, 87, of New Holland died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Ritterbush was a homemaker and nurse.

She was born June 10, 1919, in Lincoln to Frank and Catherine Jacobs Lehner. She married Fred W. Ritterbush on April 12, 1935, in Decatur. He died in October 1985.

She is survived by two daughters, Alma (and husband Kennith) Towles of East Peoria and June (and husband Charles) Bierbaum of Litchfield; two brothers, Walter Lehner of Lincoln and Leonard (and wife Dorothy) Lehner of Lincoln; one sister, Irene (and husband Corliss) Norton of Clifton; three half brothers, Tony Janet of Chicago, William Janet of Springfield and George (and Rosetta) Janet of Lincoln; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Freddie Eugene Ritterbush, and a half sister, Marie Kurtock.

Mrs. Ritterbush was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, where she had served as treasurer and was active in other church activities. She was president of the New Holland Women's Club and also held other offices within the club. She was librarian in New Holland, helped with the SHARE program and was very involved in other civic activities.

Memorial donations may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lincoln or the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
