Her funeral will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Quiram Funeral Home. Visitation will be
one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Mrs. Welchel retired from
Eureka-Williams in Bloomington in 1992.
She was born Aug. 14, 1926, at
Lincoln, to Melvin and Pearl Sapp Johnson. She
married Ebin B. Welchel on Feb. 18, 1944, in
Lincoln. He died Nov. 17, 1981.
Surviving are seven children, Ernest
(and Diane) Welchel of Eureka, James Welchel of
Searcy, Ark., Thomas Welchel of Winston, Mo., Libby
(and Leonard) Purlee of Atlanta, David Welchel of
Bloomington, Cindy (and Randy) Bailey of Atlanta and
one stepson, Jack (and Lolita) Welchel of Irmo,
S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Welchel of Lincoln;
six brothers and sisters, Ruby Jackson of Lincoln,
Orville Jackson of Alabama, Betty Miller of
Missouri, Shirley Cochran of Chandler, Ariz., and
George Jackson, Fla., and Gene Johnson of
Bloomington; 18 grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Helen
Hubner of Atlanta.
One son, Dan Welchel, preceded her
in death.
