"Abe" The library has purchased two copies of the novel
"Abe," by Richard Slotkin (2000). The Chicago Tribune described this
novel of the young Lincoln as "an entrancing, highly imaginative,
yet historically rigorous account." Salon.com designated it "one of
the 10 Best Books of 2000."
Other books newly available are for boys and girls facing
physical and psychological changes of youth and the social issues of
the day.
Genealogical workshop
How important it is to record the statistics of births, marriages
and deaths in your own family's history. Plan to come to a workshop
at the library on April 29 at 9:30 a.m. to get free help in
discovering the branches of your family tree.
Pat Glenn of Middletown and Bill Detmers of Normal are experts in
aiding folks -- beginners or whatever level -- in the search. Learn
what fun it is to be a detective in uncovering details of your
ancestors.
