Communications contest results announced

[MAY 3, 2006]  Logan County 4-H had its annual oral communications contest on April 29. Illinois State Fair delegates selected were Allen Giles, Lincoln, for general demonstration; David Carter, Lincoln, original works; Elizabeth Carter, Lincoln, illustrated speech; and Ryan Huffer, Lincoln, illustrated speech.

Alternates are Tim Carter, Lincoln, oral interpretation; Zack Huffer, Lincoln, formal speech; Stephen Squaire, Lincoln, extempore speaking; and David and Daniel Fulton, Lincoln, oral interpretation.


State fair delegates and alternates pictured (left to right) are Stephen Squaire, David Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Tim Carter and Allen Giles. Not pictured: Ryan Huffer, Zack Huffer, David Fulton and Daniel Fulton.

All delegates and alternates won blue awards. Allen Giles was selected as the top oral communicator and received a plaque sponsored by Lincoln IGA.

Additional blue award winners were Matthew Squaire, Samuel Squaire and Miriam Carter, all of Lincoln. Red award winners were Abby Squaire and Rebekah Crider, both of Lincoln.

Contest judges were Judy Schumacher, youth development educator from East Peoria, and Tami Purcell of Lincoln.
