His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the
funeral home, with Charles Bennett officiating.
Burial, with military rites, will be in Zion
Cemetery.
Mr. Foss retired in 1990 after 32 years as a
plater at Cutler-Hammer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Springfield to
Russell King Foss and Ethel May McCune Foss. He
married Betty J. Elgin on Nov. 20, 1947, at
Morganfield, Ky. She died June 12, 1991.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda (and Mike)
Armstrong of Lincoln and Connie Newton of Lincoln;
two sons, Gary (and Candy) Foss of Camp Point and
Hoot (and Sheri) Foss of Broadwell; his companion
and best friend for many years, Elaine Lessen; one
brother, Robert (and Thelma) Foss of Winterhaven,
Fla.; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; five
step-great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
He was a member of Lincoln Moose Lodge.
For 20 years he was clock keeper for Chester-East
Lincoln and Carroll Catholic schools. He was also a
proud fan of the Illini and Cardinals.
Memorials may be made to Memorial Health Systems
and will be accepted at the funeral home.
