Mr. Furman enjoyed working at Sunshine Ace
Hardware in Florida, where he made many friends.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Waynesville to
Thomas T. and Edythe Fletcher Furman. He married
Karen Green on May 25, 1957. She preceded him in
death.
He is survived by his mother, of Waynesville; one
daughter, Ternida Furman (and Liz Most) of Naples,
Fla.; two sons, Tim (and Theresa) Furman of Naples,
Fla., and Troy Furman of San Francisco, Calif.; three brothers, Allen (and Kay)
Furman of Lincoln, Richard (and Shirley) Furman of
Waynesville and Steve (and Jackie) Furman of Luray,
Va.; and four grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his father; one

He was a member of the Waynesville United
Methodist Church.
He graduated from Waynesville High School and
Illinois College.
He and his eldest son enjoyed hunting and
fishing, and he was able to score the best fishing
spots in Naples, Fla. He loved to drive stock cars
on Saturday nights. He also liked to sing, whether
he was on key or off, and he had a great sense of
humor.
"A caged bird cannot sing, but when let go he
soars freely, and that is where I will see my
father, riding on the wind to wherever over the
mountains of blue skies, free at last. All my love."
