Burial, with military rites, will be in Union
Cemetery. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln is handling arrangements.
Dr. Aldendifer practiced dentistry in El
Paso, Texas, and from 1962 until his retirement in
1990 in Lincoln.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born July 1, 1919, in Lincoln to Joseph R.
and Marguerite C. Collins Aldendifer. He married
Irene "Coty" Moser, who preceded him in death in
1996. He then married Ruth Goebel on Aug. 30, 1997,
in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons,
James C. (and Stephanie) Aldendifer Jr. of Dallas,
Texas, and Robert M. Aldendifer of Redondo Beach,
Calif.; three stepsons, Robert (and Maxine) Goebel
of Owensboro, Ky., Bruce (and Martha) Goebel of
Harding and Steven (and Carol) Goebel of
Shelbyville; one sister, Marianne A. Tucker of
Naples, Fla.; three grandsons, James C. Aldendifer
III, Brent W. Aldendifer and Peter M. Aldendifer,
all of Plano, Texas; seven stepgrandchildren; and
five step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother,
Joseph R. Aldendifer.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal
Church. He was also a member of Delta Tau Delta
fraternity in Illinois and Colorado.
He attended Central School, Lincoln Community
High School, Lincoln College, the University of
Illinois and the University of Colorado in Boulder,
Colo. He received his doctorate in dental surgery
from Loyola University in Chicago.
After enlisting in 1942, he served as an engineer
in the 329th Engineer Battalion, 104th Infantry
Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic
action near Pier, Germany on Dec. 16, 1944.
Dr. Aldendifer will be remembered for all his
civility, honesty and sense of duty.
