The Redbirds began the week with a 66-44 win over Cal State
Northridge, while holding the Matadors to 55 points below their
scoring average. Richardson finished with 15 points and eight
assists in that win, while shooting 4-for-7 from the field. He was
also instrumental in ISU's defensive effort, which held Cal State
Northridge to a Redbird Arena-low field goal percentage of 25.9
percent. On Saturday at St. John's, a member of the Big East
Conference, Richardson controlled the game and guided the Redbirds
to a 78-65 road win, snapping a 15-game road losing streak. He
tossed in a game-high 18 points and dished out four assists in the
victory.
Richardson is the second Redbird to win the league's newcomer of
the week honor in the first three weeks of the season, joining Dom
Johnson, who earned the award after week one.
