Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount
Pulaski Christian Church, with the Rev. J.T.
Thomason officiating.
Burial was in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount
Pulaski.
Mr. Buckles was a lifelong farmer.
He was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Mount Pulaski to
Leroy Keith Sr. and Helen Frances Copeland Buckles.
He married Irma Jean Baker in Chestnut on Feb. 26,
1950.
He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski;
four sons, John Buckles of Mount Pulaski, Franklin
(and Brenda) Buckles of Mount Pulaski, Andrew
Buckles of Mount Pulaski and James Buckles of
Springfield; one daughter, Mary Jane (and Floyd Jr.)
Yeck of Springfield; and seven grandchildren, Jeremy
and Cassandra Buckles, Brooke and Bridget Buckles,
and Michael, Matthew and Amanda Yeck.
He was the last of his immediate family and was
preceded in death by one brother, L.K. Buckles Jr.,
and one sister, Marilyn Durchholz
He was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church
and Sons of the American Legion Post 447. He was a
retired president of the Steenbergen Cemetery board
He was an avid fan of the Cubs and enjoyed
golfing, bowling and his pinochle club.
