HISU Still No. 3 in TSN Poll; Up to No. 2 in CSN Coaches

NORMAL – With victories by the
top three ranked teams in I-AA football, including Illinois State’s
27-14 win at Western Illinois, the top three spots in The Sports
Network’s I-AA Top 25 remained unchanged, so the Redbirds enter
Saturday’s game against Youngstown State ranked No. 3. In the
College Sporting News Coaches Poll, the ‘Birds jumped ahead of
Montana, and moved into the No. 2 spot.

The Redbirds received 12 first-place votes in The
Sports Network poll, while No. 1 Appalachian State garnered 82 top
votes and No. 2 Montana received four. Youngstown State, which fell
to Northern Iowa last weekend, dropped to No. 10, while UNI moved up
to the No. 7 position.
The Gateway Football Conference continued to have four teams in the
top 25, with Southern Illinois receiving a No. 19 ranking.
Illinois State will return to action on Saturday, as the Redbirds
host Youngstown State for Family Day at Hancock Stadium. Kickoff is
