Robert Snyder

[July 30, 2007]  A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert A. Snyder, 76, a Lincoln native, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Lacey, Wash.

Mr. Snyder died July 21, 2007, at his home in Yelm, Wash. He is survived by brothers and sisters in the Lincoln area.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army following his graduation from Lincoln Community High School and retired from military service after 26 years. He then was employed as head of security at ITT Rainer in Tacoma, Wash., for 15 years until his retirement.

He was born July 28, 1930, in rural Lincoln, a son of Adam Joseph and Ella Mae Rohrer Snyder. 

He is survived by his wife, Norinda; two sons, Ronald Snyder of California and Steve Reed of Washington; two daughters, Susan Howe of California and Jami Winslow of Washington; three brothers, Melvin "Buck" (and Lois) Snyder, Kenneth "Dutch" (and Myra) Snyder, both of Lincoln, and Clarence "Tony" (and Mary) Snyder of Metamora; two sisters, Betty L. Smith and Patricia J. Snyder of Lincoln; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Four sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of Bald Hills Community Church in Yelm, Wash.

He and his wife, Norinda, were well-known jazz dancers who participated in jazz festivals in the Pacific Northwest and across the United States.

He attended Straight Row grade school in East Lincoln Township.

Memorials may be made to Bald Hills Community Church and mailed to his family in care of his widow, Norinda Snyder, at 21447 Piessner Road S.E., Yelm, WA 98597.
