To the editor: Yes, John Fleshman, you're right on the money about
Mr. Ryman. He was a decent, warm and sweet gentleman. We used to
amuse ourselves at his expense, as we did just about every other
adult we came in contact with; but no one could question his
sincerity or integrity.
A couple of years ago, Harold Boyer and I happened to visit
briefly with him in his nursing home. I was amazed he actually
remembered my name after 40 years and that he was, as always,
unfailingly cheerful.
Rest in peace, old friend.
